🎧 Book 2 of The Red Queen‘s War.

The continuing story of an unlikely friendship between morally gray Prince Jalan & a Viking named Snorri.

I think of them as DeadPool & Thor 😆

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ 👇🏻

Twainy Well the book picks up after their last hilarious near-death adventure with them in possession of Loki‘s key! It opens all doors. Snorri wants to open Death‘s door to retrieve his wife & child.

So many crazy situations! The key reminds me of a certain ring.

I laughed out loud multiple times!

It‘s dark. It‘s sarcastic. It‘s fun & hilarious! My kind of fantasy! I wish all fantasy books were this much fun!

I did not enjoy this quite as much as the first. I suppose Mark Lawrence is setting us up for the finale, but the story seemed a bit drawn out. Still, the witty humor kept me turning the page and that ending was definitely worth the wait! I have very high expectations of book 3.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 47.

A great fantasy author 👍🏻

Cathythoughts ♥️👍🏻nice one 6y
Melissa_J I really have to try one of his books this year. 6y
TrishB @Melissa_J this is my least favourite trilogy - but still a good read. His first trilogy (Broken Empire) is brilliant - but reviews always go on about violence (they are- just saying!) and his current trilogy is great (Book of the Ancestor!) 6y

I found this to be a bit drawn out and although I never lost interest, I didn't find it as immersive as book 1. It had less momentum but I liked that we got a better look into Prince Jalan's family history. His story seemed to have been the focus of this book which I really enjoyed exploring. A lot of things come to a head but not much is resolved leaving a lot to be tied up in book 3. That being said I really enjoyed those read.

Hero is finding his path!
Here I am, after looong ten days, just finished reading this one. I must say, two or three times I almost gave up on finishing it, because parts of it were, in my opinion, unnecessary, but the ending of the book is really breathtaking. The conclusion is, I think this second book from the Red Queens's War trilogy is the bridge to the amazing finale, The Wheel of Osheim! 🔱

"Animals are generally good judges of character-they don't like me-except for horses which, for reasons I've never understood, give me their all. Perhaps it's our shared interest in running way that forms the bond."

Starting this tonight. If you haven't read Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire series, I highly recommend you do. This is the 2nd in the Red Queen's War. l
