Story of Maryam, who left Iran under tragic conditions and made a life with an English husband & their daughter Sara in London. Tragedy impels her to return to Iran, but Sara, out of both anger and love, follows to find out what happened to her mother, the truth about her past. Beautiful story with no easy endings. https://cannonballread.com/2019/10/the-saffron-kitchen-a-novel-elcicco/
Bart regrets to have to inform you that The Saffron Kitchen was just OK. It's about a woman, who after a tragic incident with her nephew, decides to rush back to her home country of Iran without giving her family notice. Her adult daughter and husband struggle to come to terms with this decision. Unfortunately the main character was too enigmatic and vague for me to really connect with and while there was some good dialogue, it left me wanting.
Well I got just shy of 11 hours...I guess that's not too bad considering I had the women's March yesterday! And I managed to get all my food prep done and laundry done while listening to an audiobook! Finished up about 50 pages in this book, which seems good so far but reaaaaaally dark!!
Still awake, going to start this book that I received from the winter solstice/secret Santa exchange last month! #24in48
