Demon
Demon | Jason Shiga
No matter how hard he tries, Jimmy Yee cannot die. A noose around his neck, a razor across his wrist, and even a bullet to his head all yield the same results: he awakes from each suicide attempt, miraculously unharmed, in his shabby room at the Sunbeam Motel. Has he gone mad? Or has he truly died and found himself in hell? Jimmy is willing to tear the world down around him to get at the truth. Highly analytical and utterly unscrupulous, he is uniquely suited to unraveling this bizarre mystery. From the brilliant and profane mind of Jason Shiga, known for his high-concept graphic novels, comes Demon: a four-volume magnum opus about the unspeakable chaos that one indestructible man can unleash on the worldand the astronomical body count he leaves behind.

That was absolutely bizarre! 😂 I'd say definitely trigger warnings for suicide, as that's a main component, but it's interesting and silly and whhhhy? 🤣

Of my new library borrows, this cover is my favorite! It's just interesting and wtf does the cover tell about the book? (Because, honestly, I went into this blind as this graphic novel got suggested as similar to a bunch I've read & cover love.)

3.5⭐️ Jimmy has had a rough few years. He attempts suicide and continues at it until he is successful. But why isn‘t he successful. It‘s like a bloody version of Groundhog's Day. Jimmy decides he is a demon and transports from the dead body to the living body closest to him at time of death. It‘s an interesting set up, but book one is not enough. The OSS wants Jimmy, but the reader has no idea what the OSS does.

Such an intriguing premise! Despite the grim, grim subject matter of suicide and mass murder, Demon is a light read that feels like it ends much too fast thanks to all the twists and action sequences.

This is a very weird series where a guy tries to kill himself and discovers that he just can't die. Because he is some kind of demon that can jump from one body to another upon death. Also a secretive govt agency is after him. Told in Shiga's trademark simple illustration style, Demon is kinda intriguing - whose body is Jimmy going to take over next? (This is vol 2 & there are currently four vol in the series

TW : suicide

Well, that was rather bonkers.
Very simply drawn with a range of maybe 4 colours... this is the story of Jimmy Yee whose family died in a car crash and whose life goes promptly off the rails as he botches a bank robbery and tries to kill himself in a hotel room... but soon finds, he cannot die. #readathon @DeweysReadathon

Radar says it all with his thought bubble. This was depraved, gross, and flat out weird. Started pretty well and then devolved into complete what-the-fuckery.

LonelyReader OMG! He looks exactly like my beloved cat Pippi who died a couple of years back. I have a picture of him where he is looking at me exactly like that. Normally I feel sad when I think about Pippi but looking at Radar's picture made me laugh and remember Pippi in a happy manner. He is definitely adorable! 8y
Zelma @LonelyReader I'm so sorry about Pippi, but am glad this photo brought back good memories. I feel that way seeing pics of my late cat Tibby. He's been gone only about two and a half years and we still miss him like crazy. 8y

Super fun! This Oakland based graphic artist has a good sense of humor when Jimmy Yee discovers he's a demon who can never die. Que the multiple suicide attempts...the plot thickens when the military wants to capture him to harness his powers.
