K is for Knifeball
K is for Knifeball: An Alphabet of Terrible Advice | Jory John, Avery Monsen
5 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
From the authors of the breakout bestseller All my friends are dead. (more than 175,000 copies sold) and in the humorous vein of Go the F**k to Sleep comes a laugh-out-loud collection of bad advice that turns the children's alphabet book on its head. Adorable illustrated characters lead readers down a path of poor decision-making, and alphabetical, rhyming couplets offer terrible life lessons in which O is for opening things with your teeth, F is for setting Daddy's wallet on fire, and R is for Raccoon (but definitely not for rabies). With plenty of playfully disastrous choices lurking around every corner, this compendium of black humor may be terrible for actual children, but it's perfect for the common-senseless child in all adults.

The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead Do you also mix up the Beatles with the Bangles? 2y

The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead What about the Killers and Distillers? 😁 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee don't encourage him!!! 😅 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead I swear I‘m not 😂😂 I just LOVE you two though. Part of the reason I look forward to Mondays is that I get to read the back and forth between y‘all 😊😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee Randy is just pretending to be all edgy and punk rock. He actually spends all his time watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and listening to the Kooks. 2y
The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead @CBee I had to look up the Kooks, and apparently they sound like "a less energetic Thrills" (???‍♂️) or a "less mush-mouthed Libertines". I did have a Libertines album, so maybe I would like the Kooks! ? (Oh, and Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been off the air for years. Get with times, Watts! ?) 2y
CBee @The_Penniless_Author not to burst your bubble, but the Kardashians are on Hulu (unfortunately). They‘re like warts that won‘t go away 😂😂 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead 😂😂😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead There are definitely Kardashians on Sky! I don't watch them personally, but I know they are there! 2y
RaeLovesToRead I actually like the Kooks, so you probably wouldn't Randy. There are better K artists though - Kings of Leon, Kate Bush, Kasabian, Katy Perry... 2y
The_Penniless_Author @CBee @RaeLovesToRead Ah, but that's 'The Kardashians', the sequel/reboot of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'. Being a strict originalist, I refuse to acknowledge its existence 😑 2y
The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead Although I've never heard the Kooks, I KNOW they're better than Katy Perry 😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee He's got them all on DVD anyway, so it's a moot point. (I am using the US meaning of moot, not the UK meaning, R-D) 2y
CBee @The_Penniless_Author I‘m with you, I‘d really just like to pretend that it doesn‘t exist 😂😂 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead 😂😂 Wait, what does “moot” mean in Britain? 2y
The_Penniless_Author @cbee @RaeLovesToRead Yeah, this is the first I'm hearing that moot means something else in the UK 🤨 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee @The_Penniless_Author My understanding is that a moot point in the US is something irrelevant. In the UK, it's a point up for debate. 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead ah ha! And yep, that is definitely what it means here. I actually really love the word “moot” 🤷‍♀️😂 2y
RaeLovesToRead @CBee Are you in the US? (I assumed so, but I saw you liked Keane... I didn't realise they'd been popular there! 😄) (I love Keane 🥰) 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead I am! I love a lot of bands that aren‘t as mainstream here 😊 2y
The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead @CBee Interesting! So over there it's a point up for debate, and here it's a point no longer up for debate because (as you said) it's now irrelevant. I wonder how it got to have nearly opposite meanings? 2y
RaeLovesToRead Randy, I feel you should post a picture of beautiful Linus on Litsy to show everyone what a handsome devil he is when he's not booping a fish-eye lens 🤣🤣 2y
The_Penniless_Author @RaeLovesToRead I've had plenty of Linus pictures on here. Go look back through my history. 2y

BookNAround Once when my husband‘s grandfather called us and we handed the phone to our preschooler, his oldest great-grandchild, my sweet thing started his conversation off by saying, “GG! You‘re not dead yet?” Good thing GG has a good sense of humor and crackled up! 5y

Omfg! This book was over the top and hilarious from beginning to end. When I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did! And I'm happy for it. Definitely not a book for kids at all. But a great adult humor book. Every one of the alphabet was my favorite and I'm still trying to figure out why there was a pickle at the end of the book. Randomness I guess which is awesome!
5 stars

LauraJ Ooh, I need a “k” title. Thanks! 5y
