Well, I finished this series and I‘m counting it as a successful completion of the #readingenvysummerreading challenge even though I technically started and completed them all in summer. š‘¨š¸¼

Fun fact: I bought Proxima and Obelisk at Waterstones in Glasgow last summer and dragged them back across the pond, and Ultima was the last book I bought at Uncle Hugo‘s Science Fiction Bookstore before it was burned down in the Minneapolis riots.

Baxter is my favorite author of hard sci-fi. His novels are always grand in scope and typically not optimistic or utopian. Oh, humans have advanced technologically but the dark side of humanity always bubbles up in the plots of his novels. The underlying dark tone of this one reminded me a lot of his novels Flood and Ark.

Loved this one and looking forward to reading the sequel, Ultima.

catsuit_mango @Louise that's my 'travel uke' in plastic to play by/in the water and not worry in the planes. My regular one is a simple wood one that sounds nice. When visiting London we took a long dĆ©tour for a ukulele shop... Only bought, #, 6y

Louise @catsuit_mango Apparently, there‘s a big uke scene in London! Ukes are so cute that people have a tendency to accumulate a lot of them. Here in the States, we jokingly refer to it as UAS or Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome. You‘re smart to have a travel uke and a home uke! 6y

so-so

I liked this book, BUT it had some flaws, especially in story-telling and character depth. I know there is at least another book, and I am curious about the development, but the last chapter was absolutely WTF. I didn't need that. Especially because my Latin is still good enough to understand what was being said. Anyone else read this?
