One of my all time favorite books! If you haven‘t read this you should. It‘s 14 illustrations, each with a single caption. You can read the book in 5 minutes, but you‘ll never forget it. My favorite thing about this is each time I reread it a different illustration gets under my skin and sets me wondering. #BBRC PB Letter M

IndoorDame For all the #LitsyEducators I was introduced to this because a friend chose these as the prompts for a short story unit for her creative writing class. And you‘ll never find better images or prompts to get your kids writing. 3y

#FallIsBooked Day 20: There is a #shadow(y) feel to the images in this book filled with 14 cryptic, seemingly-disconnected art left behind by a Mr Harris Burdick to a publisher, and disappearing afterwards. It is as if there is someone behind you as you flip through the pages, only to find that you‘re alone in the room, with hairs standing at the back of your neck. Lindy Such a great book! My sister has used it for writing prompts with teenage students. 5y

I know I‘ve already used this book for #hallowreads but I could not resist using this amazing picture for today‘s #pumpkins prompt - just look at it! It‘s glowing! “She lowered the knife and it glowed even brighter.” 🎃 #raisingreaders

Harris Burdick said he‘d written fourteen stories with drawings for each one. He left the drawings with a publisher and was never heard from again. The stories never materialised. Chris Van Allsburg presents the drawings with their accompanying caption, and leaves the rest to your imagination. The illustrations are just amazing, and this one gave us goosebumps for #someoneswatchingsunday #hallowreads #raisingreaders

Another one of my #favegraphicnovels is The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. My partner, er, I mean my spouse (after decades of calling him my partner I can't quite get used to calling him my spouse now that we are legal😂) -- anyway, my spouse bought this for me one day when I was home sick with the flu and my eyes felt too brittle to read. So much better than flowers! #booktober

Notafraidofwords I call my boyfriend my partner too. Because boyfriend feels like I'm in eighth grade and I'm not in 8th grade. Plus we've been together for 7 years. Boyfriend doesn't seem to cut it. 8y

#FunFridayPhoto! I was obsessed with this book as a kid. It contains 14 drawings by Chris Van Allsburg, each with a title and caption. The reader has to imagine the rest of the story. My favorite teacher asked us to write a story about one of the pictures. I was drawn to the weird images and captions. This one is called Under the Rug; the caption is "Two weeks passed and it happened again." I love CVA's work; his illustrations are gorgeous!

Melkyl I often use this book for inspiration for stories with my students. I have read some great stories from them. 8y
