Another Commissario Brunetti detective novel. This started slowly, but once the investigation starts it picks up the usual pace & rhythms of Venice police life. Brunetti is seasoned & wise, his wife Paola a calming presence & Signorina Elettra still my favourite. There is a wonderful sense of being in Venice, both the beauty, food & coffee and the seedy side: corruption & environmental disaster. Brunetti is good company; I enjoyed this.
I enjoy all of Donna Leon‘s Guido Brunetti books, but I think Earthly Remains is my favorite so fair. I especially love that it‘s dedicated to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Wow!
I'm a day late but here is my posting for Day #26. #Novemberbythenumbers
Earthly Remains is the most recent book published in the Guido Brunetti Series, and is number 26 in this series. I have yet to read this series but is high on my TBR as seen such great reviews for it.
While I read YA almost exclusively these day, for a time during the 90s, I did like to #followtheclues. Donna Leon is one novelist whose detective Brunetti continues to find an audience. I think we're up to number 26 or something? That's longevity. #backtoreading #daytwo #august @Tiffy_Reads @JoeStalksBeck I am all caught up now...
I'm pretty sure there's a secret bookworm compact that REQUIRES you to stay up past bedtime if you're less than 50 pages from the end, riiiight??
Today's #readinglunch is brought to you by #whole30 clichés. ?? {A burger patty & grilled onions & peppers on a lettuce "bun", a broccoli-carrot-apple slaw with a lemon vinaigrette, and, clichéiest of all, a can of La Croix.}
I love book characters who also love books! ♥️📚 #GuidoBrunetti (And man is this Venetian villa giving me envy right now.)
Got a babysitter for the morning, and am using my free time to catch up on books for review at the #library!
I *meant* to back away from the Internet and read before bed, but look at the inscription in the newest Donna Leon!! 😍 #notoriousRBG
I have adored the Guido Brunetti series for a decade, and I'm super excited about this one, because Brunetti is on a leave of absence from the Questura, so it sounds like an "unofficial" investigation.
