From the acclaimed author of Creep and Freak whom #1 bestselling author Jeffery Deaver praised as a top-of-the-line thriller writer, a high-octane novel about lethal secrets that refuse to dieuntil they kill again. A rash of grisly serial murders plagued Seattle until the infamous Beacon Hill Butcher was finally hunted down and killed by police chief Edward Shank in 1985. Now, some thirty years later, Shank, retired and widowed, is giving up his large rambling Victorian house to his grandson Matt, whom he helped raise. Settling back into his childhood home and doing some renovations in the backyard to make the house feel like his own, Matt, a young up-and-coming chef and restaurateur, stumbles upon a locked crate hes never seen before. Curious, he picks the padlock and makes a discovery so gruesome it will forever haunt him Faced with this deep, dark family secret, Matt must decide whether to keep what he knows buried in the past, go to the police, or take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile Matts girlfriend, Sam, has always suspected that her mother was murdered by the Beacon Hill Butchertwo years after the supposed Butcher was gunned down. As she pursues leads that will prove her right, Sam heads right into the path of Matts terrible secret. A tense, suspenseful, thoroughly creepy thriller (Booklist), The Butcher will keep you guessing until the bitter, bloody end. Dont miss this thrill ride that will have your attention from start to finish (Suspense Magazine).

3.75⭐
•This is one of those stories where you already know who the killer is, but the mystery is in how the people in the story will find out and whether they will survive finding the truth. Overall, this was not without its issues, but I still found myself invested in the story.
•It was great that each POV had a different narrator and each of them gave a decent performance.

You know the book is bad when you‘re cheering on the bad guy 🙄. This had so much potential. Where did it fall flat? Chapter one. You know from the 1st chapter who the serial killer is. Ok I can deal with that. But add beyond unlikable characters (go serial killer) and subpar writing and you get this mess.

So this book does start out by telling you who the Butcher is. Which kinda sucks. But you also get to read from his point of view, being a serial killer. But there were flaws. Like the main characters were so frikken selfish it was hard to not roll your eyes. Also some things that were suppose to be the surprise part, were very obvious to me. 3/5

Mixed feelings with this book. You know who The Butcher is just in the first chapter but the story was interesting how the author was building this character. However, some actions were so unrealistic and some were too predictable. But I liked the writing style as a thriller🤷🏽‍♀️. I can‘t say almost anything without spoil the story. 3⭐️

This one has been on my TBR shelf for quite a while- and I‘m glad I finally picked it up! It‘s perfect for this time of year- a #Gory #SerialKillerThriller for sure- with some surprising moments of dark humor thrown in! I thoroughly enjoyed it!! #BlackCatChallenge

Told you who the killer was very early into the book which takes some gusto but it does pay off! Many books do this and I like it cause while the “good guys” hunt the antagonist we also get to watch the antagonist as he does what he does

This book was a hot mess. It straight up tells you who the Butcher is in the second chapter....who does that!?
