It‘s been a LONG time since I‘ve read a book that was actually hard to put down. I found myself sneaking little peeks whenever I could - which is easy today when it‘s a kindle book and you have the app on your phone 🤣. This was so disturbing, mainly because you know from the very beginning who the “baddy” is and you‘re just waiting for everyone else to figure it out! It‘s also got short chapters which I love! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I‘m wondering if Jennifer Hillier can write a bad book. At first, I was thinking this one may be a miss for me, as I‘ve loved several of her others. But by the end, I was all in—waiting to see how everything in this book would shake out. But I wasn‘t waiting to find out who The Butcher is—readers learn that right off the bat. Hillier is my favorite thriller writer, and I‘m going to finish her backlist.
Dark, gritty and twisted serial killer thriller. This novel is gruesome and unputdownable. The story kicks off at full speed when the killer‘s identity is revealed early on, making it a why- and how-done-it rather than a who-done-it. A wild ride unfolds as the truth comes to light. Multiple narrators make the audiobook engaging. ⚠️ Check trigger warnings—this one is intense. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5/5 ❤️📚🎧
Right off the bat the first thing I loved about the audiobook for The Butcher is the use of multiple narrators; I love how they each give their character an individual voice and personality. I especially enjoyed how Shank was portrayed by Coffey. I mostly enjoyed the story itself as. The end left a lot to be desired; it was way too anticlimactic. I also struggled to like many of the characters; oddly Shank was my favorite.

•This is one of those stories where you already know who the killer is, but the mystery is in how the people in the story will find out and whether they will survive finding the truth. Overall, this was not without its issues, but I still found myself invested in the story.
•It was great that each POV had a different narrator and each of them gave a decent performance.
You know the book is bad when you‘re cheering on the bad guy 🙄. This had so much potential. Where did it fall flat? Chapter one. You know from the 1st chapter who the serial killer is. Ok I can deal with that. But add beyond unlikable characters (go serial killer) and subpar writing and you get this mess.
So this book does start out by telling you who the Butcher is. Which kinda sucks. But you also get to read from his point of view, being a serial killer. But there were flaws. Like the main characters were so frikken selfish it was hard to not roll your eyes. Also some things that were suppose to be the surprise part, were very obvious to me. 3/5
Mixed feelings with this book. You know who The Butcher is just in the first chapter but the story was interesting how the author was building this character. However, some actions were so unrealistic and some were too predictable. But I liked the writing style as a thriller🤷🏽♀️. I can‘t say almost anything without spoil the story. 3⭐️
Grabbed this from the library yesterday and I CANNOT put it down. It got me right from the first chapter. Can‘t way to see how this unfolds.
Jennifer Hillier knocks it out of the park every time. I love her writing. This book was absolutely thrilling in all the right ways. Gripping, raw, and very fast paced! #mustread #jenniferhillier #thebutcher #bookhangover
This one has been on my TBR shelf for quite a while- and I‘m glad I finally picked it up! It‘s perfect for this time of year- a #Gory #SerialKillerThriller for sure- with some surprising moments of dark humor thrown in! I thoroughly enjoyed it!! #BlackCatChallenge
Told you who the killer was very early into the book which takes some gusto but it does pay off! Many books do this and I like it cause while the “good guys” hunt the antagonist we also get to watch the antagonist as he does what he does
This book was a hot mess. It straight up tells you who the Butcher is in the second chapter....who does that!?
