Worth It: Your Life, Your Money, Your Terms | Amanda Steinberg
10 posts | 1 read | 13 to read
From the founder and superstar CEO of DailyWorth.comthe go-to financial site for women with more than one million subscriberscomes a fresh book that redefines the relationship between women, self-worth, and money. Worth It shows women how to view money as a source of personal power and freedomand live life on their terms. Millions of women want to create financial stability and abundance in their lives, but they dont know how. They are stuck in overwhelming confusion and guilt, driven by internalized money stories that have nothing to do with what is really possible. As the founder of DailyWorth.com, a financial media and education platform, Amanda Steinberg encounters these smart, ambitious women every day. With this book, she helps them face their money stories head on and wake up to the prosperity that awaits them. Worth It outlines the essential financial information women needand everything the institutions and advisors dont spell out. Steinberg gets to the bottom of why women are stressed and anxious when it comes to their finances and teaches them to stay away from strict budgeting and other harsh austerity practices. Instead, she makes money relatable, while sharing strategies she uses herself to build confidence and ease in her own financial life. Through her first-hand experiences and the stories from other women whove woken up, Steinbergs powerful and encouraging advice can help women of any age and income view money as a source of freedom and independenceand create bright financial futures.

Mehso-so

I checked this out from my library, because I don't want to fear money. I want to understand it better. I want to learn from mistakes and be a better money manager. And this is a great introduction to finances, but some things irked me. The repetitiveness and the complete generalization about women's movement that does not include women of color. Every statistic ignores race and sexual orientation-real things that affect women and their money.

saresmoore It's not a book, but the very best thing I've ever come across for the logistics of budgeting is YNAB (You Need a Budget). It's web-based budgeting software that is user-friendly and educational without being preachy or didactic. It helps so much! And I'm pretty much broke! 😁 8y
Notafraidofwords @saresmoore ohhh awesome. I will look into it. Any good book about investments in stocks or IRA's. 8y
mavenofmayhem Do you have any recommendations of women's finance you've liked better? Especially that include women in same sex marriage? 8y

Notafraidofwords @mavenofmayhem I wish I did. This is actually my first finance book ever. I never read one before. This wasn't so bad. It's just not inclusive. And there was a point where she approximately claimed that a 25 year old could be making 50 a year. And that's so false, I can't even process that lie lol 8y
mavenofmayhem Ha not even a 35yo is assured of that! I say we begin this search or...we write the book we need 8y

One more extra money suggestion: Ibotta. It's a rebate app where you take a picture your receipt, and then scan the items to receive the rebate. You can cash out every $20. That $23 was earned in a week (including the $10 bonus, which is earned after redeeming your first rebate within a week of signing up, I believe). Use my referral code, wwoatvs, and you can earn an extra $10. Sign up at https://ibotta.com/r/wwoatvs

If there's anyone out there who (like me) uses apps for a little extra cash, I just started using Mobee. 100 points is a $1. And you get to donate $5 to quite a few organizations for only 350 points. I WISH I'd had a referral code when I signed up, so here's my referral code: 5S1H. You earn an extra 300 ($3) if you use it and complete at least one job. http://www.getmobee.com/app/. 2500 points is a B & N gift card ($25). #financialreads #appmoney

#currentlyreading I find this concept very interesting. This paragraph got me thinking about my story based on what memories I choose to dwell on, not just about money but life in general. It made me think I want to change my current story. #inspiration #money #personalfinance #finance

Notafraidofwords I would love to read this one. 8y
rockpools Interested to hear how you go with this one. I've been looking at my own 'money stories' recently- and now I need to work out how to change my way of thinking😐 8y

I'm in serious need of some financial advice and more savviness, so I'm picking up this new release to help me out. Sounds promising!

Publishers summary: WORTH IT boldly examines the relationship between women, self-worth, and money to give smart, savvy, and successful women the tools they want - and need - to create financial stability and abundance in their lives.

k.bryns I'll be curious to hear your thoughts; this sounds like a really good read! 8y
TheBookDream Is this from the Dave Ramsey empire? 8y
annahenke @TheBookDream Nope! It's an independent and feminist approach . I don't think it's Christian-oriented. 8y
