This one was totally different than what I was expecting, and it had me guessing until the end. I am not normally one for spooky books or psychological thrillers, but it is Halloween time, so I went with it. Glad I did!

"If you hunt for monsters, you'll find them." That's all six year old Stella said when they found her, her best friend Jeanie still missing. 11 years later she still can't remember what happened that day & the town won't let her forget. On the anniversary of that day the body of another young girl washes up, leaving Stella desperate to recall what happened then and how it's happening again.
I could not get through the first couple of chapters. It was full of teenage stereotypes from what I had read and really slow.
I loved the creepy mystery aspect off the book. The plot was great and page turning despite the characters being extremely unlikable. Still worth giving a try. It was a great thrilling read.
This is about 17 y/o Stella who was still coping with the disappearance of her friend in the woods when they were 6 y/o.Stella cannot remember what happened and stories and legends were around the neighborhood to explain what really happened. The plot is around how Stella discovered the truth which will involve friendship treason, family secrets and twists. The plot was slow with extreme unnecessary long scenes about Stella life.Fast ending.3⭐️
Next book I'm going to read! I have a huge TBR pile under my bed and this was the next one in line.
I feel like I'm the last person to finish Spookathon, but I did it!! I accomplished 3/5 and I had fun too!
Also, I decided to give The Creeping ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars because while the plot and storyline was decent, I hated the characters so much. I honestly just despised them all and plus I ended up feeling kind of crappy about myself because it felt like if you weren't popular, then you're just going to end up being friendless and ugly. I hate that.
Last day of Spookathon!! I'm hoping that I'll finish The Creeping by tonight, I just have around 100 pages to go. So far I kind of, actually I really hate the characters. All of them. The storyline is decent though but other than that I just can't wait to finish the book. I don't want to deal with these characters anymore.
#BookMail for today: I got another pirate book!!! I knew I had to after DOTPK, and I am excited to read this one as well as The Creeping. I also received #rotation7 of my #LitsyGoesPostalOG from @marixa ❤
Stella and Jeanie vanished 12 years ago while picking strawberries. Stella returned minutes later, with no memory of what happened. Jeanie was never seen or heard from again.
Stella is 17, when along comes a corpse, a little girl who washes up in a cemetery after a mudslide, and has red hair just like Jeanie did. When Stella discovers that other red-headed girls have gone missing, she begins to suspect that something sinister is at work.

Always up for a good 'two people walk into the woods but only one comes out' story 🤓💀
"If you hunt for monsters, you'll find them." Our YA book club pick for July! So excited to re-read this one with friends.
I still get squealy running into my first book at Target! It'll be out in paperback Aug. 2nd - the same day my second YA thriller THE TELLING will be released! 🎉📚🙆🏻
