The Creeping
The Creeping | Alexandra Sirowy
Romance, friendship, and dark, bone-chilling fear fill the pages of this summertime thriller in the spirit of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Twelve years ago Stella and Jeanie vanished while picking strawberries. Stella returned minutes later, with no memory of what happened. Jeanie was never seen or heard from again. Now Stella is seventeen, and shes over it. Shes the lucky one who survived, and sure, the case is still cloaked in mysteryand its her small towns ugly legacybut Stella is focused on the coming summer. Shes got a great best friend, a hookup with an irresistibly crooked smile, and two months of beach days stretching out before her. Then along comes a corpse, a little girl who washes up in an ancient cemetery after a mudslide, and who has red hair just like Jeanie did. Suddenly memories of that haunting day begin to return, and when Stella discovers that other red-headed girls have gone missing as well, she begins to suspect that something sinister is at work. And before the summer ends, Stella will learn the hard way that if you hunt for monsters, you will find them.

This one was totally different than what I was expecting, and it had me guessing until the end. I am not normally one for spooky books or psychological thrillers, but it is Halloween time, so I went with it. Glad I did!

"If you hunt for monsters, you'll find them." That's all six year old Stella said when they found her, her best friend Jeanie still missing. 11 years later she still can't remember what happened that day & the town won't let her forget. On the anniversary of that day the body of another young girl washes up, leaving Stella desperate to recall what happened then and how it's happening again.

I could not get through the first couple of chapters. It was full of teenage stereotypes from what I had read and really slow.

I loved the creepy mystery aspect off the book. The plot was great and page turning despite the characters being extremely unlikable. Still worth giving a try. It was a great thrilling read.

This is about 17 y/o Stella who was still coping with the disappearance of her friend in the woods when they were 6 y/o.Stella cannot remember what happened and stories and legends were around the neighborhood to explain what really happened. The plot is around how Stella discovered the truth which will involve friendship treason, family secrets and twists. The plot was slow with extreme unnecessary long scenes about Stella life.Fast ending.3⭐️

IheartYA I tried it and could only get a few pages in. Guess I will try again. 😕 7y
Gissy @IheartYA The book is not great really, it will better to try another book! There are so many better books to read 7y

I feel like I'm the last person to finish Spookathon, but I did it!! I accomplished 3/5 and I had fun too!

Also, I decided to give The Creeping ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars because while the plot and storyline was decent, I hated the characters so much. I honestly just despised them all and plus I ended up feeling kind of crappy about myself because it felt like if you weren't popular, then you're just going to end up being friendless and ugly. I hate that.

Last day of Spookathon!! I'm hoping that I'll finish The Creeping by tonight, I just have around 100 pages to go. So far I kind of, actually I really hate the characters. All of them. The storyline is decent though but other than that I just can't wait to finish the book. I don't want to deal with these characters anymore.
