I have not read Dante‘s inferno but I liked school assemblies.
Fun fact: The picture is from my high school yearbook. #highschool #inferno #yearbook

Finally nice enough to sit on my porch...a date to savor. #hellospring #punintended
I FINALLY finished a book in February. It‘s been a slow reading start for the month.
I‘m glad I read this. It it didn‘t have the charm of it‘s predecessor “It‘s Not Me, It‘s You” or the fabulous dialogue of “Prince in Disguise” and the premise was a bit ridiculous. Still, the cast is diverse (the MC and love interest are not white), the problems pretty darn high school, and it had it‘s shining moments, as seen in the bits I quoted.
The two YA books I‘ve been reading have been subtly or not-so-subtly commentating on our currently political climate.
And then near the end of this book, during the sophomore class president speeches, the author just outright trolled the Trump administration with a character who is basically calling for discounting the existence of women at the school and using the slogan, “let‘s make San Anselmo Prep great again.”
Election results below.
“...he never would‘ve called Tanner E. or any of the other boys at that table emotional. I hate that word. It‘s sexist...what‘s so wrong with being emotional? It means I care about things. That doesn‘t make me weak. It makes me a compassionate, dedicated member of the Student Council...”
Preach, Holly. Preach!
There is a very high probability I will regret this (even though I have a pretty high caffeine tolerance) but I just had to use my new mini French press to make coffee for cookie dipping...at 9 pm.
At least I should be able to stay up to read my book, right?
Is there some sort of sporting event on??
I kid! But I‘m also not watching at all. I used to at least pretend but when my husband stopped caring so did I.
My kids exploded with tiredness and went to bed an hour early. Husband is grocery shopping (he says it‘s fabulously empty there). And I should be doing laundry (I will...soon) but I‘m mostly just sitting here enjoying the quiet.

4 events. 1 day. Eek.
What? I only used 3 words... (side eye)...
Humour is subjective I know, but here is a taste of #savethedate. It's all like this - multiple viewpoints, contradicting perceptions, very high school, and building a complex layer of character and plot. p. 49
#currentlyreading #marchrelease2018 #yaliterature The format of this story is what I believe is called 'oral history'. Never heard of it. It might be the author came up with it herself. Anyway, thought it seemed difficult (dare I say, tedious?) but 15 pages in, I have snorted 5 times already. So am declaring my love 😍 for it..
Fall is a fabulous time for books! Two of my most anticipated came in on hold for me earlier this week. I hope The Date to Save is as fun as It's Not Me, It's You. And Empty Grave is *supposedly* the final book in the Lockwood series. I'm invested in the characters so I need to know what happens but the last few installments have been slow going for me. We'll see how this one turns out! #libraryhaul #libraryloot
Today's #bookmail. Not sure what I did to be magically sent almost every YA book Scholastic puts out, but I s'pose that's my life now. 🤓
Last year, YA Interrobang featured Stephanie for IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU. Check it out: http://bit.ly/2q1pYI0
Take the chaos of high school, cram it into a single extraordinary day & you have Strohm's delightful The Date to Save. So fun! (It's out in September.)
