Who knew baking powder was such a cutthroat industry?! This got a bit dry in places (what do you expect from an academic?) but overall, a fun history for anyone who enjoys a good chemical leavener.

#TBRtemptation post 1! #BEA17 edition! Just punished. As I kept walking by the booth that this galley was available from, I noticed the stack wasn't getting much shorter 😂👏🏻. Don't worry, leave it to MrBook to be interested in this sort of thing. Anyhoo, patented in 1856, baking powder sparked a classic business struggle for market supremacy among hundreds of companies, leading to leaps in marketing, lawsuits, etc. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
