As a big admirer, it took me too many years to get around to reading this. No Logo is an account of how corporations began selling brands instead of products, ideas, lifestyles and symbols instead of commodities. With that came the focus group and brands marketed to specific demographics like urban youth who integrated Nike swag into gang culture. Into the 90s, public outcries against sweatshops and environmental degradation awoke a resistance.

#AlphabetGame Letter N

This book blew me away when it was published - more than 20 years ago already - and it changed my view upon so many things.

For this week‘s #integrateyourshelf I had a loooot of books to choose from and went for the one that I think I still think about most, that taught me the most that I still use today about politics in America, the UK and all over the world. Even though it‘s 20 years old seeing how corporations and marketing affect all our politics was so important and fascinating for me. @ChasingOm

ChasingOm Ooooh, interesting!! Also, how is 2000 20 years ago?!? 😭 4y

If i could pick ONE author to see and I‘d never get to hear any other ones, I wouldn‘t pause before I picked Naomi Klein. I‘m so excited to get to see my favourite living author, I‘m almost shaking. She‘s the only person I‘ve methodically read the complete works of, I‘ve bought her books for all my friends, I‘ve been accused of talking about her Too Much :/ I might have had to come out on a Saturday night alone but I couldn‘t be more hyped

BarbaraBB Cool! I loved her No Logo but didn‘t read any other book by her. 6y
Emilymdxn @barbarabb no logo is one of my favourite books of all time! My other joint fave by her is 6y

This was mindblowing - @BarbaraBB was right about how great it was! Obviously it was a bit out of date, having been written in the 90s, but all its core messages rang so true and were so fascinating, horrifying - and weirdly inspiring, since Naomi Klein always does such a good job of showing you how goliaths can be fought. I feel like I understand the business world today much better now, never taken much of an interest before. Essential reading

BarbaraBB You‘re right, it is a book that changes your perspective for ever. And how fast you read!!! Now on to 6y
Emilymdxn @BarbaraBB absolutely!! I spent most of this weekend on trains so lots of reading time! 6y
