A hardened exile It had taken Lucien Rosier fifteen years at war to rebuild himself after he lost his family. To remake himself, he had left behind even his name. Now a captain in the Foreign Legion, the last thing he wanted was to face his past. Even for her... A woman longing for a home Lucien Rosier had been her hero once, when everyone else had turned away. Now it was Elena Lyon's turn to rescue him. If she could teach him to believe in love and family again, she would pay back her debts. But after a lifetime of abandonment, she wasn't about to make the mistake of believing in love herself. Not even for him... Could two broken hearts find in each other exactly what they needed to heal?

If i was at home i have shelves of romance but there are none here.

I have chosen this author for 2 reasons. Firstly i am reading this book at the moment but also during my major reading slump this was one of the few authors i did still make an effort to read

Also, many of this authors have great passion for food or perfume!

A Kiss in Lavender by Laura Florand, a lovely a bittersweet homecoming romance. Great banter, strong family ties, and characters you can't help but love. Such a strong sense of place and rootedness, makes you feel like you traveled to France. This is a romance between an officer in the French Foreign Legion and the museum curator who brings him back home to Grasse.

Reading this book reminded me of @LauraFlorand's guest post on my blog back in 2014:

"...the world is a huge, rich place, and I hope you‘ll go after it with everything in you. Sink into experiences."

I think Crown of Bitter Orange is probably my favorite in this series, but this was still a beautiful enjoyable read. This has been my favorite series of Laura Florand's so far. All the descriptions of flowers, scents, the countryside, and this deep sense of place and belonging (things most probably can't say they are surrounded by in real life) work as a balm to the soul for me.

Chachic I loved this one too and yes, I do agree with your description that the whole series has such a strong sense of place and belonging.💕 Love the Rosiers. 7y

I always feel a bit lost after reading a book by a favorite author (A Kiss in Lavender by @LauraFlorand, in this case) and I can't decide what to read next. So here's a #bookanddessert shot instead which includes delicious dark chocolate and walnut cookies.

#romantsy #Kindle

MarriedtoMrT I get that same feeling! Cookies do help. 7y
Jas16 Having your dessert figured out is an important first step. 7y
Chachic @MarriedtoMrT @Jas16 Cookies definitely help. Maybe I'll have another one before going to bed. Since I still haven't decided what to read next.😔 7y

Laura Florand's descriptions of Provence leap off the page in her La vie en Roses series. So glad to be back in the world of the Rosiers, described as the most influential agricultural perfume family in the region. I've loved every book in this series and A Kiss in Lavender was no exception. I've been waiting to read about Lucien's homecoming for the longest time! And it was as lovely and bittersweet as I expected it to be.💖📚🌹🍃

Happy book birthday to A Kiss in Lavender by @LauraFlorand 🎉 Pretty sure I'm going to love this since I've loved all three novels and one novella about the Rosier cousins. I highly recommend her books to all fans of romance.💕

Chachic @nitalibrarian They've mentioned it several times on their blog and have even included snippets from the book. Events in Hugh's book will be relevant for the final Kate Daniels installment. So exciting! 7y
