Washington, DC: Twin brothers are found drowned in a Perspex box, one gagged and strapped to a chair. Its the latest in a series of cruel and elaborate murders with two things in common: the killer has left a family history chart at each crime scene, and the victims all have a connection to genealogical sleuth Jefferson Tayte. Hoping his insight and expertise will help solve the case, the FBI summon Tayte back to the capital. But as he struggles to crack the clues, the killer strikes againand again. Tayte is known as the best in the business, but this time hes up against a genealogical mastermind who always seems to be one step ahead. With the clock ticking and the body count rising, Tayte finds himself racked with guilt, his reputation and career in tatters. The killer is running rings around him; is it only a matter of time before he comes for the ultimate target? This is the sixth book in the Jefferson Tayte Genealogical Mystery series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

1. A table by a window in Waterstones Gloucester, and I will be back there one day. For now, though, it‘s the arbor in my back garden;

2. Corned Beef Hash

3. Tagged, an easy read but well-paced and interesting.

4. These two, Merlot (left, enjoying a head script has) and Rioja (right, looking like butter wouldn‘t melt in her mouth - it‘s an act😹)

Finished my second book during #24B42020, now at 14 hrs 26 mins.

This was another good book in the Jefferson Tayte Series. This one was a bit of a departure from other books in the series with a serial killer on the loose who seems to beat a big grudge against Jefferson. Start counting the bodies! Enjoyable in its own way but I do hope they get back to the normal fayre with the next book as I enjoy exploring the history within these.

Sooooo... Reading the 6th book in a series can be a make or break moment. Is the author going to follow the tried and true recipe or will he shake things up. In this case things got shaken up and I thought that it really worked. The second part wasn't without its issues when it came to the story telling, but in the end I just needed to now how it ends... I will read the next book, if there is one.
