Dr. Ando who has yet to recover from his son's death at sea, conducts an autopsy on an old friend who has died under unusual circumstances. The corpse, that of cynical philosophy professor Ryuji Takayama, has something to tell him. And Ryuji isn't the only one who chooses to make a reappearance in this story. You don't know what the RING is yet. The terms of the curse of the videotape undergo a jaw-dropping reconfiguration in this novel, the horror master's stunning reinvention of his own bestselling tale. Spiral is written as a stand-alone work; for Rinbg fans, its' a sequel that redefines the word.

Pickpick

Let me start by saying this is the 5th book in the Ring universe, and the first one I have read. I have however watched all the American Ring movies. I don't know how closely they follow the books but there you go. The main characters in this one are Takanori and his fiancé Akane. Weird things start to happen to them both after watching a video of an execution. I felt the book was ok, but not as good as I had hoped. 3 stars just barely a “pick”

batsy That cover! 6y
Geeklet Those movies are such a guilty pleasure of mine. I‘d love to read the books. 6y
Mandoul Thanks for the review! I read Spiral last year (which i think is book 2 or 3) and was wondering whether to try any more. 6y

Currently reading. Great cover but I‘m not sure why the main character is so accepting of all the weirdness happening to him.

Mehso-so

The plot of this story is wacky. I hope I didn‘t get pregnant since I was ovulating when I read it! (Yeah, it‘s that kind of crazy 😝). The translation was flat...or maybe it was just the writer. He spoon-feeds you the story. There‘s a lot of repetition and over-explaining to pass off the premise. It‘s so goofy that it‘s still worth reading, especially if you‘ve read his Ring series.

Haven‘t read the first two books in this series, but I don‘t have them and I‘m in the mood for something light. #whatthehell

Alfrazier21 Would you say the series is more horror or sci fi? I‘ve kind of heard mixed things. I‘ve added them to my TBR, but haven‘t picked any of the books up yet. 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker I love surprises like that and also love your booksleeve. 7y

I literally got this same book from the library yesterday and then it showed up in my NRB! So excited!!! 13 years after the last installment of The Ring! It continues! Though the cover reminds me of Guts in Chuck Palahniuks book Haunted 🤮

Zelma That is a pretty nasty cover! 😬 7y

Quite impressed with this month's #nocturnalreadersbox. Both books sound great, the shirt is cool...love the print from The Troop. The glass is awesome, and the Mongrells bandana makes me even more excited that it's my next read. Good job, guys!

DeeLew I'm starting to read S right now! Loved this month's box. 7y
