3/5⭐ There are some good ideas for sparking creativity, getting motivated, and developing a writing habit. Many of the sections resorted to flowery self-help speak that I didn't like or find useful. This book is best for beginning writers or those who want to flip through once in a while when they find their inspiration flagging. #roll100

“I love my story's exuberance, but I'm fatigued by the thought of teaching it to grow up.“

Such a good description for the feeling behind taking a story from idea to finished book.

I loved this discussion of Brené Brown‘s concept of healthy striving as it relates to writing—“You set standards that are challenging, but within reach, enjoy the process of reaching for them, see mistakes as opportunities for growth, and react positively to feedback.” #NaNoWriMo

Caroline2 That‘s a great quote. 😃 3y

Picked this up as well! I‘ve done NaNo for years now and I‘m looking forwards to rereading old favourite pep talks and also maybe finding some I didn‘t get (or skipped 😆)!

Well I definitely did not expect to get a bingo so early on in the month for NanoWrimo 😅 So far I‘ve been keeping up fairly well but all it takes is one day and I‘ll be behind again 😪 Flipping through the tagged book has definitely been helping when my motivation has been waning. Hopefully I‘ll be able to meet 50k and/or finish my story as well as Pep Talks by the end of the month. #NanoBingo19

Charityann Yay! Nice job. Keep it up - you can do it!😊👍🏼 4y

This is my faithful companion under the blankets this morning. (It actually got cold enough last night to need them.) He‘s the best because he sometimes prompts me to actually get out of bed in the morning, and without him I wouldn‘t go for walks as much as I do. #dogsoflitsy

tricours I wish our dog would get cold so that he could cuddle more... 6y

It‘s been sloooow going with the fiction writing today, but at least I got 10k steps! Thankfully there exist these wonderful pep talks by the executive director of #NaNoWriMo to convince me to continue. Now if only I could get him (or someone else) to tell my procrastinating butt to get to it. 🤔
