#IdiomInsight
#SwanSong is usually a final accomplishment or performance, one's last work. This idiom alludes to the old belief that swans normally are mute but burst into beautiful song moments before they die. Although the idea is much older, the term was first recorded in English in 1890.
I thought of the swans in Newberry Award winning book from my childhood that was adapted as an ABC Afterschool Special in 1974. (Those were the days!) 😉
