Taking a little break from the wholesome Karen Kingsbury and diving into this one. It‘s a beautiful day out and this little guy is so cute I thought he deserved to be in the picture. #46of2023

Sorry, think this pic is showing sideways....there were lots of phrases that stuck with me from this book,(BTW, it's a good read).
But this one was interesting to ponder.
Dani‘s husband is gone when she wakes up. But due to her drinking too much just the other night, she has a hard time recalling the events when she last remembered seeing her husband and goes searching for him.
This book was so so for me. I think it spent too much time going into events that had in the end, no pertinence to the story. It‘d of done better for me had there been even just some kind of action.
On to the next one! ☺️
3.75/5 stars for audio (Cassandra Campbell was excellent, book itself I'd give 3.5/5 stars). Caletti did a good job with this mystery which is more of a focused psychological examination of the main character & her marriage, less of a whodunit (which is good because I nailed that mystery 1 hour into the book). Ultimately, I found the main character not relatable enough to remain sympathetic as aspects of her personality/history were revealed.
I signed up for summer reading and picked up a mystery book at the library. What a fun way to discover new books!
In terms of pure writing craft that makes me stop to savor it on every. single. page, Deb Caletti is one f the best I have ever read. I took a photo of this passage while reading He's Gone, because I was just in awe.
