Hell Is Empty
Hell Is Empty: A Longmire Mystery | Craig Johnson
14 posts | 18 read | 7 to read
Walt faces an icy hell in this New York Times bestseller from the author ofThe Cold Dish and Dry Bones, the seventh novel in the Longmire series, the basis for LONGMIRE, the hit Netflix original series Well-read and world-weary, Sheriff Walt Longmire has been maintaining order in Wyoming's Absaroka County for more than thirty years, but in this riveting seventh outing, he is pushed to his limits. Raynaud Shade, an adopted Crow Indian rumored to be one of the country's most dangerous sociopaths, has just confessed to murdering a boy ten years ago and burying him deep within the Bighorn Mountains. Walt is asked to transport Shade through a blizzard to the site, but what begins as a typical criminal transport turns personal when the veteran lawman learns that he knows the dead boy's family. Guided only by Indian mysticism and a battered paperback of Dante's Inferno, Walt braves the icy hell of the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area, cheating death to ensure that justice--both civil and spiritual--is served. From the Hardcover edition.

It‘s been a few years since I‘ve read a Longmire novel, but I decided I wanted to try to finish some of the series I‘ve started. This is the seventh book in the series and I forgot how much I loved Walt Longmire. I definitely plan on trying to finish this series this year because I just get sucked into the story so easily.

ncayea Are they a fast read, or slow? 2y
NikkiKey94 @ncayea they are always a fast read for me. I read this one in a day and a half! 2y

Thrifty finds today! I saw a collection of Longmire paper backs, but of course while I‘m standing there I can‘t recall which ones I already have because my books are still in boxes. 😬 I picked one with a plot line that fits my wheelhouse.

This Longmire book was slightly different than other ones. Much of it is Walt alone on a mountain. Dante's Inferno plays a big part in this book in both plot and how the story is told. PS - Quote Is not a spoiler, just a quote I really enjoyed from the book.

#somethimgforsept #outsidereading Who am I kidding? I am a reader, I hardly ever go outside.😀 So, here's the cover of a book that takes place outside, in the snow, in the mountains of WY.

Zelma 😂 I like your style. 8y

One of my biggest book geeky things is loving when a book references another book. It's like we are part of the community and we get the "in joke ". Finally, one of the cool kids.

[DELETED] 2232195534 Love Craig Johnson's books. Love Walt Longmire!! 8y

Johnson's sense of place is always fantastic. This story takes place in WY's Big Horn Mountains and has you questioning a lot of things as you go. When I finished, I wanted to immediately start it again (along w/ Dante's Inferno). Walt is one of my favorites. Cloud Peak Photo credit: David Meunch

Ellsbeth Also, I spread this book out a bit over our three day road trip and finished it within site of our destination. 🚙🗻📚 8y

It's officially my summer! That means lots of sitting in the car as we go through 4 very large states, so I might as well get some reading done. I like to start my summer with Craig Johnson. He is very good at writing Wyoming stories. I'm hoping he is nearby on book tour this summer. He's a riot.
