Black Panther the Young Prince | Ronald L Smith
10 posts | 5 read
Black Panther. Ruler of Wakanda. Avenger. This is his destiny. But right now, he's simply T'Challa-the young prince.Life is comfortable for twelve-year-old T'Challa in his home of Wakanda, an isolated, technologically advanced African nation. When he's not learning how to rule a kingdom from his father-the reigning Black Panther-or testing out the latest tech, he's off breaking rules with his best friend, M'Baku. But as conflict brews near Wakanda, T'Challa's father makes a startling announcement: he's sending T'Challa and M'Baku to school in America. This is no prestigious private academy-they've been enrolled at South Side Middle School in the heart of Chicago. Despite being given a high-tech suit and a Vibranium ring to use only in case of an emergency, T'Challa realizes he might not be as equipped to handle life in America as he thought. Especially when it comes to navigating new friendships while hiding his true identity as the prince of a powerful nation, and avoiding Gemini Jones, a menacing classmate who is rumored to be involved in dark magic. When strange things begin happening around school, T'Challa sets out to uncover the source. But what he discovers in the process is far more sinister than he could ever have imagined. In order to protect his friends and stop an ancient evil, T'Challa must take on the mantle of a hero, setting him on the path to becoming the Black Panther.

I‘m giving this book 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it and so did the kid who the target audience but I had to read it. My kid thought it was interesting. We both liked taking a look at what T‘Challa‘s life as a child could have been like. I would definitely recommend this to middle grade readers looking a for little adventure that tackles the feeling of belonging, making friends in a new place and wanting to be accepted. Overall an easy and fun read.

The kid read this a few months back and really enjoyed it. So now it‘s my turn. Not going to lie, half the reason I bought this book was because I really wanted to read it. I was nice by letting the kid go first.

The King sends T'Challa & M'Baku to the U.S. to attend school after Ulysses Klaw attempts to invade Wakanda.
M'Baku tires of living in the young prince's shadow & leaves the safety of the embassy to stay with school bully Gemini Jones.
T'Challa finds out Gemini is involved in some sketchy magic, which sends T'Challa & his new friends on an investigation that could lead to serious consequences since T'Challa must keep his identity a secret.

This was fun. I don‘t know what else to say about it, really, because it was just...fun. Pretty simple, and a fast read, and a charming little look into the life of young T‘Challa. #theyoungprince #blackpanther #tchalla #ronaldlsmith #marvel

Just a quick little jaunt in between finishing “Triple Witch” and starting “Speak: The Graphic Novel.” It feels more like it‘s geared towards a level slightly younger than YA, which is where it was shelved in our library, but it‘s still a fun read about young T‘Challa basically living undercover in Chicago. #theyoungprince #blackpanther #tchalla #ronaldlsmith #marvel

MelAnn Lol so I‘m not the only one confused? Closed side of the theater? Why closed? And why open now? Remodel? 6y
LibrarianRyan @Betty the arm rests are judge. We both got them. 6y
LibrarianRyan @Kaye @TheBookDream @MelAnn theaters 1-3 have always been open. 4-8 have been closed for at learn4 years. I thought they were on the curve of shutting this one down. They have a fancy new big theater on the other side of town. Two in fact. I was here a few months ago and knew they were getting upgrades. I just didn't think it would be nicer than the new theater. Soooo nice. And the double post must be due to bad cell reception. 6y
MelAnn Ahh well I‘m sure the remodel will help them gain more movie goers for sure! Hope you enjoyed the movie!!! 6y
Betty Triple post, not double. I thought you were referring to Rip Van Winkle being the cause of it being closed so long. We have a theater like this. Comfy! 6y
LibrarianRyan @Betty that must be because the reception was spotty. I swear I didn't intentional post it 3 time. It was soooooo comfy. 6y

LibrarianRyan @Kaye @mellann they redid the theater. It's so nice. All the seats are recliners. Ahhh. So comfy. 6y
Kaye Oh, I didn‘t even notice that. Shows you how long since I‘ve been to a movie. 😳 I‘m a bit out of the loop sometimes. 6y
