Heart of Obsidian
Heart of Obsidian: A Psy-Changeling Novel | Nalini Singh
14 posts | 24 read | 8 to read
Step into NEW YORK TIMES bestseller Nalini Singh's explosive and shockingly passionate Psy-Changeling world ... A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained bloodred. A woman whose very existence has been erased. A love story so dark it may shatter the world itself. A deadly price that must be paid. The day of reckoning is here. From 'the alpha author of paranormal romance' (BOOKLIST) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career - one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.

Two Psy this time, which is a first. Plus some pretty big things for the world. I remember loving this one the first time I read it. I love it when the tough ones fall, and Kaleb's one of the toughest in this world.

This did take me a bit to get into, but I think it‘s because it‘s the only book in this series I have read. I ended up really enjoying her writing and the world she created. The anithero dark romance was also a guilty pleasure to read. I don‘t think I‘ll read any others of this series, but the sci-fi uninverse is really interesting and I‘d definitely recommend it to people who enjoy the genre.

I think Kaleb Krychek counts as an antihero...

Kaleb Krychek has similar personality traits to Dracula. He has an air about him.

Pride? He has it in bucketfuls!
Primal and predatory? He is a Psy who is unafraid to use his powers for those who he has claimed as his own.
Obsession with a woman? There has only ever been one woman and he will do anything to find her.
Bloodthirsty? Check
Survivor? Check
Feared? Check
Hard to kill? Check

Crosses most of the boxes :p

Now I know why everyone loves this book so much! I went in skeptical because I could never get a good feel for Kaleb in the other books. Now he's possibly my favorite next to Dorian.

One of my all time favourites. A beautifully written story. ❤️

The only other novel I've read in the series is Slave to Sensation so I'm definitely reading the series out of order. I still enjoyed this paranormal romance and I do have a weakness for bad boys like Kaleb. Kaleb has spent seven years trying to find his kidnapped childhood sweetheart- what happens when he finds her? 💕🔥

This is the last of my rereads, so the next one will be brand new to me 😍

Heart of Obsidian is one of the best in the series. Focusing on Kaleb Krychek we find out his secrets and the difficulties of childhood as a powerful cardinal. The relationships in this are incredibly heart felt and I like the way they develop. The romance is beautiful (though only in fiction... he is a bad bad man).

The main arc also progresses exponentially in this one!

Bookworm54 P.S I tried so hard to get the text level, but it just is not happening! 😖 8y
CocoReads So do these need to be read in order? I've never read them but this sounds fantastic! 8y
Bookworm54 @CocoReads they can be read as stand alone, but they do kind of follow on from each other. With this one particularly it packs a punch because we have already seen the character pop up in other books 🙂 8y
CocoReads Thanks @bookworm54 I hate reading series books out of order anyway, but sometimes I do. 8y
Debiw781 @Bookworm54 I need to catch up on this series! 8y

Starting my #LitsyPartyOfOne with a caramelised onion and goats cheese tart (potentially too caramelised...) with a medley of green veg with garlic and herb butter, and a glass of White Zinfandel 😍

My current physical read is Heart of Obsidian. This is book 12 in the Psy-Changeling series, and focuses on the cardinal TK (and we suspect TP) Councillor Kaleb Krychek. ❤

I am also part way through my first audio book: Born A Crime by Trevor Noah. So far so good! ☺

wen4blu I just finished book 5 in this series. My library has them on Overdrive, so I can get the next one right away. 8y
Bookworm54 That's great! Now I am reading through them one after the other, it's much easier to keep track of characters. And they just continue to get better! There are 15 in the series so far, plus 2 anthologies. Then it's moving onto psy-changeling trinity series. It follows on from the original 15, but has a different story arc. The first one is out soon I believe ☺ 8y
Bookworm54 @wen4blu might help if I tag you! 😂😂😂 8y
