This was SUCH a stellar first novel for a series. It gave me as much as I wanted, but you best believe I will read the next one in the series.

There were many twists and turns, dark scenes, and magical elements in this. The narrator was fun and did different voices, making it easy to decipher which character was speaking. The vivid descriptions took me back to Savannah while also making it seem like I was involved in a part of the town I didn't know existed. Makes you wonder every step of the way who can and can't be trusted. Already downloaded the second book in this series.
I lived by Savannah, GA just last year, so I was intrigued by this book's setting. A perfect setting for a family of witches. Their matriarch is one of the witches who protects the line between our world and the one of magic. The line was moved to rid the world of magical creatures, the only way to banish demons. Mercy was born without powers. After getting herself involved with a hoodoo witch, she inadvertently leaves the line vulnerable.
#UnpopularOpinion here. I love Savannah, GA and I love witches, but this one was a fail and bail for me. There were just too many writing cliches (e.g. “skin glistened”). There was unnatural, awkward dialogue used as shortcuts to fill the reader in on character thoughts and observations. Every bit of well-known Savannah trivia was dropped in the first 10 pages as if to prove the writer had visited. I hate being talked down to as a reader. *shrugs*
Impulse read of an impulse download to participate, on impulse, in the #ReverseReadathon. I need an impulse snack...
This is my first read for the new year and I can't wait to really get into it like I want to but I have a couple other things to get started before that happens
I'm a huge fan of urban, paranormal, and fantasy books. I have a boatload of witch-related books on my shelves. I'd say my favorite series from recent years is the Witching Savannah series. Of all time, my favorite witches are the Mayfair Witches from Anne Rice. As a woman in a healing profession, I'm also fascinated by the suspicion people like me endured in times past.

p.s. This new image editor rocks @Litsy 👏🏻👏🏻
I just succumbed to yet another Goodreads deals emails. But this was another one where I could get the whole series, on Kindle and Audible, for under $16! I couldn't resist! And is my #HalloweenGoesPostal
#FallBookExchange match is seeing this, don't worry, this was not in my TBR list. I promise I haven't been buying stuff off of it, and anything new I buy goes into my Owned TBR list on Goodreads. 👍 #BookHaul
I really enjoyed this book. I actually read it twice a few months apart. The book opens on the Liars tour of Savanah Georgia. Mercy's character immediately appealed to me. The mystery of who murdered her aunt, and her strange family is all woven together so well. I have never read of a magic system like the one, and found it fascinating. Then there is Savanah. The writer's portrayal of the scenery and atmosphere are perfect.
Got this on #KindleUnlimited but also came with the #Audiobook so decided to try that out - not bad so far
I just finished the first book of JD Horn's "Witching Savannah" series. The plot has some interesting twists. It is a bit closer to YA for my taste (I like seasoned, kickass heroines with a slightly cynical view of the world). I major plot point focuses on secrets and lies, which may be why I didn't feel like any of the relationships between characters worked. There are several more books in the series and I may get to them eventually.
I tore through this Audio Book in two days over two long hikes last year. Today it's on sale on Amazon and you can add the narration for cheap.
Thinking about why I didn't give this a pick, the only thing that comes to mind was that it kept on going and going... you thought you finally at the conclusion of the story and then there was another layer and yet another layer, but for whatever reason, I didn't care.
