Hope Nation
Hope Nation: YA Authors Share Personal Moments of Inspiration | Rose Brock
12 posts | 11 read | 12 to read
Hope is a decision, but it is a hard one to recognize in the face of oppression, belittlement, alienation, and defeat. To help embolden hope, here is a powerhouse collection of essays and personal stories that speak directly to teens and all YA readers. Featuring Angie Thomas, Marie Lu, James Dashner, Nicola Yoon, David Levithan, Libba Bray, Jason Reynolds, Rene Ahdieh, and many more! "The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood."--Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. We all experience moments when we struggle to understand the state of the world, when we feel powerless and--in some cases--even hopeless. The teens of today are the caretakers of tomorrow, and yet it's difficult for many to find joy or comfort in such a turbulent society. But in trying times, words are power. Some of today's most influential young adult authors come together in this highly personal collection of essays and original stories that offer moments of light in the darkness, and show that hope is a decision we all can make. Like a modern day Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul or Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Teens, Hope Nation acknowledges the pain and offers words of encouragement. Authors include: Atia Abawi, Renee Ahdieh, Libba Bray, Howard Bryant, Ally Carter, Ally Condie, James Dashner, Christina Diaz Gonzales, Gayle Forman, Romina Garber, I. W. Gregario, Kate Hart, Bendan Kiely, David Levithan, Alex London, Marie Lu, Julie Murphy, Jason Reynolds, Aisha Saeed, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Jenny Torres Sanchez, Jeff Zentner, and Nicola Yoon.

4 ⭐ Some of my favorite stories were Libba Bray and her car accident, Angie Thomas talking about how worried she was for the release of the hate you give, or (I can not remember which author) talking about their immigrant experience and having to be told as a teenager to remember they are an immigrant. This was not a book I set out with a purpose to read, other than to fill a challenge, but the idea of hope worked.

This collection of essays were amazing. I know this is a book for teens, but honestly, it is a great book for adults too. A lot of great advice and stories with this read. 100% recommend.

It has taken me nearly a year to catch up to this book on my reading list, but in the time between I have read so many more of these authors and it added even more heart to what I was reading. Be sure you don't put off reading this collection of essays and letters that speak directly to teens and all #YA readers. Hope is a decision, but it is a hard one to recognize in the face of oppression, belittlement, alienation, and defeat.

This is such a fantastic, much needed, oh so important, book of collected stories on Hope. It‘s a wonderful little glimpse into the minds and lives of some our favorite YA authors but also some great advice and inspiration from them as well. It‘s definitely my #1 favorite book for 2018 (so far, because we still have plenty of reading to do!). I will share it with everyone and anyone that will listen! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #hopenation
