Ready to unwind a bit and welcome the weekend
Meh. This was really slow. I was hoping it would be more entertaining and fast paced. I liked the band and all the interesting things between them after they finish their senior year of high school. I just thought it would have more endearing moments. #booked2019 #featuresamusician

“Colby and Bev have a long-standing pact: graduate, hit the road with Bev's band, and then spend the year wandering around Europe. But moments after the tour kicks off, Bev makes a shocking announcement: she's abandoning their plans - and Colby - to start college in the fall.”
Colby and Bev have been friends since they were children. After HS graduation they plan a band tour, The Disenchantments, and then off to travel Europe. Bev drops out of the Europe plans and Colby isn‘t to happy but the tour must go on.
I enjoyed this book especially the friendship the group had. It was quick read but not the light and fun read you might think its is because of the cover.

🌈 I am catching up so my #bookrainbow is on the cover. This book was cute. Every time I see this on the shelf I feel like listening to Sleater-Kinney. This book demands a playlist!

No. No no no.
Serves me right for being misled by pretty tumblr graphics.
I am mentally and physically exhausted by this you-owe-it-to-me-to-tell-me trope. And this whole pining for someone unattainable, with the subsequent angst, guilt, and drama that accompanies it.
Also, can we just please have a book where good friends just STAY good friends? Is that really so much to ask for? 😟
Re-reading THE DISENCHANTMENTS, I've fallen in love all over again. Colby & Bev, their friends, the many characters (in every sense of the word) they meet, are still wonderful. Even better, this time around, is the mastery of craft. Now I can't wait for the next Nina LaCour novel.
I love Nina LaCour!!! This book was an utter delight full of excellent music references and fantastic dialogue. This author has a way of making a plot that could be super corny into something truly special.
I loved the story but the main character was just so annoying and an awful person 😖😖
