I was drawn in by the cover and feel of this book however I felt deflated and disappointed after finishing it.

It promised a much more enthralling story than it delivered. The writing is well done and very atmospheric but the storyline and romance really fell short of my expectations.

This could have been a really intriguing story, with wreckers scavenging off victims of shipwrecks but overall it was very dull and left a lot to be desired.

Taking an icecream break between #MarvellousMarch books & trying to choose my next read. I have two books that are both historical thrillers set in Cornwall, one in the early 1800s or thereabouts, the other in the 1930s. Both look very gothic, Wrecker is about the pirating & salvaging past of the Cornwall coast & Rebecca is sort of a ghost story, they‘re both going to be super creepy I think. Which would you pick?

Chrissyreadit Rebecca is a favorite of mine! 4y

Another #SummerFun & #SummerFunJr #SummerFunBucketList stack today, this one is my #ReadingLater I‘m keeping it small this month, hopefully I can get back on track and get a balance between Reno/rehab & reading. This is a diverse #stack with a GN, Crime, Fantasy & Historical Fiction novels so something has to stick!

Was a bit disappointed by this one. Setting/premise promised something a little more exciting/thrilling/swashbuckling than it delivered. In fact, at times it was downright dull. The Wrecker of the title is as in marriage- rather than ship- and that was probably my main gripe with it. The romance aspect was kinda passionless and I found the ending a little unpalatable. Vaguely entertaining but not particularly memorable. Definite meh territory.

#BookMail Pt2 My July Goldsboro BOTM finally arrived today. It‘s s gorgeous signed edition of a book about a small town on the coast who live off the shipwrecks.I‘m seriously considering cancelling my sub. I emailed Goldsboro for the tracking number only to be told they use cheap airmail, same as book depository.Only BD is free,Goldsboro charge over $18.When I queried this I was told “But we use a lot of bubble wrap! If you don‘t like it, leave.”😡

Jennick2004 Wow there‘s some good customer service...#dontgiveahoot 6y
TrishB Their customer service is crap!!! When I asked why one of mind took so long (I‘m in the U.K.!) they said they didn‘t think people were waiting to read them as they are collectors editions!! 6y
Lizpixie @Jennick2004 if they didn‘t have such beautiful, exclusive editions I would‘ve told them to shove it already, but after this effort I think I‘ll be buying from Waterstones & other “exclusive” stores from now on. @TrishB 😳 Wow. For most readers, paying double for a nice edition usually means no money left for 2nd copies! And at the end of the day, they‘re books! They are made to be read🤓 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Woah. That‘s awful. But this book looks amazing - stacked!! 6y
