First of all, let's talk about this terrible cover . . . But seriously, #MargaretAtwood's fourth novel, Life Before Man, is strangely intriguing. Three Torontonians, Elizabeth, Nate, and Lesje's deal with the death of Elizabeth's lover, Chris. The novel explores the trappings of marriage, motherhood, and gender dynamics in romantic relationships. Overall, great read despite the cast of unlikeable characters.
Although not my favourite #MargaretAtwood novel ever, this is a solid novel very much in keeping with Atwood's earlier works. It is a bit disturbing how current some of the feminist themes are despite it having been written 35+ years ago. Overall, a quiet and powerful journey exploring the complicated nature of human relationships.
Sitting down to a wonderful dinner of rainbow trout with dijon/dill/lemon, green beans, and mashed potatoes. I am so in love with the fact that my husband made this for me, and is happy to let me read about dysfunctional relationships while I eat it. #nowthatslove #doesheknowmeorwhat
My nephew gave me tea/tea supplies for Christmas because he wanted me to be able to curl up and read without running out. He is the sweetest 10 year old boy ever! ❤❤❤
I wish our visit with him wasn't so short this year 😕 #bestnephewever #booksandtea #mighttakehimhomewithme
Leaving home at 3:30 am to get to tje airport means Starbucks and a trusty Margaret Atwood book are an absolute must #leavingonajetplane
From publisher: "Imprisoned by walls of their own construction, here are three people, each in midlife, in midcrisis, forced to make choices--after the rules have changed."
And I'm hooked after a few lines. That's what she does. Atwood is quickly becoming a favorite. Paired with homemade venison Pho and enjoyed a quality beer while it was cooking. It's a good night.
One of the unread Atwoods on my shelf.
