A darker, fantastical twist on the original. One of the best retellings I‘ve read! Content warning for physical and sexual abuse and violence.

Horror as a genre is not something I‘ve read very often, so I think I may have expected too much from this in the “terrifying” category. However, it was a good read. I liked the diary entry format and enjoyed the descriptions of the artic (a place that fascinates me). And Isaak ❤️🐶

Tamra I loved this one! 4y

I‘m absolutely loving this series. This is the second book, and I‘m flying through it. Paige is a great protagonist and I love the world in which she lives. I can‘t wait to finish work so I can keep reading.

I‘m really enjoying these! They‘re easy to get into and quite fast paced. Nothing too serious, just a bit of fun. The narrator is also fantastic.

Another great read from V.E. Schwab. Turning the idea of superhero‘s and villains on its head, this story is gripping from the get go. Powers are gained in an interesting way, making this a unique story. I loved the characters too!

Not sure how I feel about this. It has the potential to be really good, but the love story was just unrealistic. One minute she‘s terrified and the next she‘s all passion and love. I‘m not overly invested in the characters either. 🤷‍♀️

A great ending to the series. This is a fantastic book, based on the Ottoman Empire and one woman‘s fight to right the wrongs done to her and her country. Lada is based on Vlad (the Impaler) and will stop at nothing despite the emotional and literal destruction it causes. Great historical fiction!

iread2much Looks so cool! 5y
Bookworm-Bobbie @iread2much it really was. And I did some research afterwards, and it‘s pretty historically accurate. 5y

I really enjoyed this. It was funny, had adventure, sad bits, happy bits. A quick fun read (although I listened to it on audiobook). Maxwell is recruited to St Mary‘s, and there her life truly begins. Just don‘t think too hard about the plot line.

This was my first audiobook. I don‘t feel I got the full impact of the story as I struggle with taking in information whilst listening. But it was a great idea. I wasn‘t overly bothered about listening to the next one, until the epilogue. I can‘t help but think I would have enjoyed it more if I‘d read it.

Not sure how I feel about this. I really enjoyed reading it, but once I finished, it didn‘t feel overly different to a lot of the other YA fantasy out there. The MC was a little annoying, but I hope that it forms part of her development.

BillBlume I had a similar reaction and was annoyed at how it abandoned all the cool things about the world to just waste time in a more sexed up version of Hogwarts. 5y

What a wonderful selection of poetry. The perfect combination of fairytales and feminism, magical and enlightening. I particularly like the way Gill gives back stories to villains and doesn‘t apologise for Tinker-bell‘s anger. This is going to be my new comfort re-read!

Hornsby78 Nikita Gill has become a favorite of mine over this past year. A piece of her poetry will pop up just when I need it most and it has happened numerous times. She is a kick ass feminist writer. 5y

The beginning of this felt very young and I wasn‘t sure I was going to enjoy it, but I quickly got wrapped up in the story and it‘s characters. Not usually a fan of the intrigues of running a court, I was surprised that this interested me all the way through and even surprised me once of twice. We‘ll worth a read.

I really, REALLY wish I had read this before I watched the film. It‘s witty, interesting and not at all gushy.
