I believe that games of spite, lying, hating, and hunger are games that can't really be won, and are all #FoolishGames to play. I have read three of these game-titled books and one (The Lying Game) is in my #TBR stack.

KarenUK I liked the Lying game... I‘m also hoping Ruth Ware‘s new one turns up at work as an ARC 🤞🤞🤞🤞 5y

Not my favorite thriller & I liked the author's Only Daughter better-but this one did keep me intrigued & wanting to know how things played out. Told through Ava's thoughts & memories as she waits in a police station to confess her role in the disappearance of Mel, the leader of a clique that bullied her in high school. Did Ava's revenge games go too far?😱Here with my mostly homemade fish and chips inspired by the book. Link to recipe/review👇🏻

From this morning. I like when a book has short chapters so I can get a few in before starting my work day-preferably with coffee. Hoping I'd get out of work early for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday but a meeting got pushed out putting me in the thick of late afternoon traffic for my commute home. Grr...😖Reviewing this mystery thriller on Friday. On the home stretch to finishing it. Now...what to pair with it for my book-inspired recipe?🤔📚🍽

My lunch & #soupersundays blog post, the finished Roasted Broccoli & White Cheddar Soup. Easy & tasty with the sweetness of the roasted broccoli & the slight sharpness of the white cheddar--enough to make it rich but not gloppy with cheese, so it feels lighter & healthier. 🍲📚💚With my current read for blog tour review this coming week. I'm only about 4 chapters in so it has not quite grabbed me yet. Link to soup recipe is in comments below.

Mehso-so

This one fell pretty flat for me. There‘s not a lot of variation of events from chapter to chapter, but it still had enough to keep me reading to see what happens. However, it hardly happens.

This is a story of a girl, Ava, who gets revenge on a group of people who bullied and played tricks on to her in high school. It goes back and forth between past and present.

Ava presents some psychopathic tendencies but so does almost everyone else in the story so the shock value of her deeds are lessened.

The ending wasn‘t shocking nor unexpected. Those who enjoy revenge plots may like this, but I would recommend passing.

The Spite Game is Mean Girls all grown up without Lindsay Lohan‘s prom speech when she gives pieces of the tiara to people. Ava was desperate to join the cool girls in high school until they embarrassed her one night at a party. Years later - she gets her revenge. Snoekstra‘s writing kept me wanting to know what‘s going to happen next the entire time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #arc #NetGalley
