A mature poet, Larry Thomas has an extraordinary gift which has evolved through decades at his craft. Thomas explores the natural world of Texasits animal icons like the Hereford or hawk or rattlesnake, the larger-than-life geography, which is the stuff out of which legends are made. Thomas captures the spirit of place within larger truths that travel well, as editor Billy Bob Hill explains in his introduction. Hill also takes careful note of the poets deft alliteration and just-right compression of language as he urges readers to enjoy Thomas poems for their Texas elements but also the worldly art therein.

Graywacke @Lcsmcat definitely is, to a large degree. His parents did own a gas station in far west Texas. And he certainly crossed with their hyper-conservative perspectives. The darkest element, between the lines here, is that, as I understand, the station burned down, killing both his parents when they were older. (I hope I‘m correct there. When he told me this story, I didn‘t feel comfortable asking for clarity or more explanation.) 4y

#BookMail! The best way to end a Monday. I don‘t know who Connor was/is @Graywacke but his loss is my gain.(I love surprise autographed books!) And I‘ve accidentally started collecting the Vintage paperbacks for the #catherbuddyread. These covers are singed by the same illustrator who did my cover for A Lost Lady. Since she depicted Mrs. Forrester as a strawberry blonde, I don‘t hold out hope that these covers will be accurate! 😀
