Adrian Simcox Does NOT Have a Horse
Adrian Simcox Does NOT Have a Horse | Marcy Campbell
3 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
A classic in the making, this heartwarming story about empathy and imagination is one that families will treasure for years to come. Adrian Simcox tells anyone who will listen that he has a horse--the best and most beautiful horse anywhere. But Chloe does NOT believe him. Adrian Simcox lives in a tiny house. Where would he keep a horse? He has holes in his shoes. How would he pay for a horse? The more Adrian talks about his horse, the angrier Chloe gets. But when she calls him out at school and even complains about him to her mom, Chloe doesn't get the vindication she craves. She gets something far more important. Written with tenderness and poignancy and gorgeously illustrated, this book will show readers that kindness is always rewarding, understanding is sweeter than judgment, and friendship is the best gift one can give.

#NewYearNewYou Day 16: Chloe is #CreepedOut by Adrian Simcox who keeps claiming that he has a horse when it is clear that he does NOT. It took a short trip to the more disadvantaged side of town, led by Chloe‘s mother in the pretext of walking their dog, for Chloe to see beyond lies, half-truths, and the struggling dignity of someone who has nothing but their unbridled imagination to see him through. I thought this book would be too advanced for my not quite a three year old, and while I don't think he's taking much of the moral of the story, he does like the book!

Beautifully illustrated, this picture book is, simply put, about learning empathy and kindness for each other. 🐎

What an incredibly beautiful book! A bit too mature/long for my almost three year old, but it was so pretty it had to come home with us.
Adrian sits by himself and lives I'm his head, when Chloe heard him telling other kids that he has a horse she knows there's no way he has one and is angry that he's lying until her mother makes her have a conversation with him.
