pickA 1934 inverted mystery. A strange little story but well written. Desperately unlikable characters, but I think that was a plus in this story. You really couldn‘t wait to see them ‘get what‘s coming to them‘! Edward is a particularly nasty piece of work and he is keeping a diary about how he is trying to murder his Aunt Mildred. It‘s quite hilarious! The unsuspecting twist at the end is well worth the read!

pickDelicious! This was originally published in 1934 but it still reads well today. Edward‘s diary is a treat. Over the course of the book, you learn that he and his aunt are both strong willed and determined to have their way. Silent adversaries if you will. This was a finely crafted, delectable mystery. Such a perfect ending! Will look for more of Hull‘s work.

I found this book interesting, different from other mysteries I‘ve read, perhaps because it‘s British, perhaps because it was written years ago.
In some places it seemed to drag on but I just skimmed some sentences, wanting to move along to what was pertinent to the story.
The ending was unique - I‘m glad I kept reading, glad I read the book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickHa, that ending! I didn't really like any of the characters, but it's fun in the way where you want to see how they get their comeuppance.
The only point in this book I have agreed with so far! "It is not a pleasant prospect to be book-less".
Otherwise so far the narrator is being horrible about Wales and ghastly in general, but I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be.
