A practical book on how to reflect Jesus‘ love to others in this world. Read it!
Overall, quite an entertaining book. Again, I will emphasize that I am not usually one to read nonfiction books. But this book enamored me with its many short stories from his life and how he has found connections with God. It was much easier to relate to than your normal Christian theological book.
"Failure is just part of the process, and it's not just okay; it's better than okay. God doesn't want failure to shut us down. God didn't make it a three-strikes-and-you're-out sort of thing. It's more about how God's helps us dust ourselves off so we can swing for the fences again. And all of this without keeping a meticulous record of our screw-ups." p. 29
As a still-recovering perfectionist: *phew*
Edifying short stories to encourage the reader to use the gifts and talents God has given to make a positive difference in his/her circle of influence and watch what God does.
I have an entire shelf of nonfiction that I haven't touched in months. I really need to get through them and not just buy them! 🙊
I'm trying to read a chapter a day, and so far this is a lovely and fast read. ♡
Bob tells you about little snippets of his life in a funny and encompassing way. love does a lot of things, this is one way of keeping it simple.
Ok, so I had issues with this book, but they were issues I knew I‘d probably have, so 🤷🏻♀️What I didn‘t enjoy was the typical Christian talk, as well as the heteronormative talk. What I loved was the stories—the ones about his kids, the “Ryan in Love” chapter and the one about Don Valencia. I appreciated his insights about “whimsy” and love in action. Lastly, the format and feel of this book was a perfect way for me to get back into audiobooks!
Lots of good stories and passion. I marked a medium amount in the book.
OMG Bob Goff is so funny! It‘s rainy where I live! 🌧What‘s the weather like by you?
Not a quote from this book but from the author about his life‘s philosophy - “I‘m rarely the smartest guy in the room, but I‘m usually the most available one. It‘s how I express gratitude for the people who have made themselves available to me.”
Sure, this isn‘t a theological treatise, and there were times I wanted to kindly remind Mr. Goff that sometimes it‘s not Either/Or, but rather Both/And. But mostly I was cheering. I love his heart and his whimsy and his sense of humor.
I want to live the kind of life that is so overflowing with God‘s love that it leaks into the lives of others
"I used to think being a believer was enough, but now I know Jesus wants us to participate, no matter what condition we're in. " I love Bob Goff! My copy is in less than stellar condition, but that's how you know it's well loved ?
#TBRtemptation post 1! A 4.25 GR rating with 27,890 ratings! As a father, he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. In Uganda, he's so well-liked, he was made consul. His grades were too low to get into law school, so he sat outside the Dean's office for 7 days and was admitted. Bob's recounting will stimulate your thoughts and get you to see the power of Love via action. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
I'm enjoying a chapter a day of this one. ♥️ It's nice to read then think on it for the day. #lovedoes
I feel terrible that I bailed but I did. I got the main point of the whole book a few chapters in. Also, I am just not that exciting or whimsical. This book was not for me.
"I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I'm afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter." - Bob Goff
I really enjoyed our #BuddyBuddyBookClub chapter 1-4 discussion. So far, the book is interesting and full of great stories of Bob Goff's life. It also makes me think about my life and how I'm living it. I can't wait to read more and for our next discussion @Rachael5248

Can't wait to read more of the book 'Love Does' by Bob Goff in the next couple of weeks. #BuddyBuddybookclub
I'm loving these #LoveDoes discussion questions that @Rachael5248 found for our #BuddyBuddyBookclub to discuss at our next meeting this coming Saturday
No Litsy this book was written by Bob Goff... Only the forward was written by Donald Miller! Got the next book club read at B&N today. Also featuring a very cute bookmark. #puns #BuddyBuddybookclub #ChristinNonfiction #Lovedoes
My pastor read the first chapter of #LoveDoes during one of his sermons and it caught my interest. Now we're reading it for the #BuddyBuddyBookclub.
Also reading #ACaribbeanMystery by #AgathaChristie during break periods.

Happiness is having a friend drop off a book for me in my mailbox! 💙
I can't recommend this book highly enough! If you haven't encountered Bob Goff, you need to!
"In the end, love doesn't just keep thinking about it or planning for it. Simply put; Love does!"
Meh. Some funny parts but too much self importance in the name of religion turned me off.
Bob reminds us to DO things to show love. I liked the stories he shared on things that have happened to him or things he has done to show love. And all of these things he related to Jesus and the Bible.
My anxiety about going to training camp alternates from 0-10 during any given minute. Taking some time to myself to read hoping it'll refocus me. I can't believe I met my first goal!
"Like that cake, my life is full of small rocks, pieces of asphalt, broken and unrepaired relationships, and unwanted debris. But somehow God allows us each to be served up anyway."
Just started and already so many good things to think about!
Great stories that make your heart sing.
One of the world leaders they interviewed shared this story. 'I'll never let the Bears get you.'
This is the coolest chapter! He talks to his kids about 9/11 and they get the idea to write the leaders of the world to talk about what they hope for and be friends. They do it! They interviewed 30 world leaders! Some of the teachers were not so excited!
Great uplifting book!
Bob is being an idiot and dropping out of high school, but his friend sticks with him bc he's loving him even through his mistake.
I didn't think so, because most of the Christians I had met up until that time were kind of wimpy and seemed to have more opinions about what or who they were against than who they were for.
I love how books are sneaky. The cover of this book is ridiculously cheesy. Never would have picked it up, someone gave it to me. I pick it up this morning and I'm in tears.
"it's about going to extremes and expressing the bright hope that life offers us, a hope that makes us brave and expels darkness with light. that's what i want my life to be all about - full of abandon, whimsy, and in love."
surprisingly endearing read. palms up.
So many good stories & wise words about living an engaged life full of whimsy. "Love is never stationary." "Life can be like a sweepstakes where you must be present to win." "Be secretly incredible. Be awesome on your undershirt and not the back of your hoodie."
