I want to give a warm welcome to a new Litten, my good friend Sherry Jones! She is an author with a bent for historical fiction and a good human on this planet. Her last book was on Josephine Baker! Welcome Sherry to this quirky warmhearted community of readers around the world. @SherryJones

LitStephanie Hi Sherry! Welcome to Litsy! @SherryJones 3y
SherryJones Thank you, Sam, and everyone! It‘s great to see old friends and new here. I love to write and I love to read — it‘s hard to say which I enjoy more — and I am super psyched about this site, and the chance to talk about books with you all. I write historical fiction (mostly) but I read everything that‘s good! 3y

"I am not a young woman now, friends. My life is behind me. There is not too much fire burning inside me. And before it goes out, I want you to use what is left to light that fire in you, so that you can carry on, and so that you can do those things that I have done. Then, when my fires have burned out, and I go where we all go someday, I can be happy."

She's so much more than a dancer, and I'm glad I picked this up on a whim. What a grand story!

I recently chanced upon this biographical novel about an interesting woman, who left poverty in America, rose to fame as a showgirl in Paris nightclubs, and fight as an activist against discrimination and prejudice. Dancer, singer, actress, lover, fighter, businesswoman, spy, and an activist.. Freda Josephine McDonald transformed herself into Josephine Baker, and done it all. Sounds like a fascinating story!

Rachbb3 I bought this not too long ago. Her life sounds fascinating. I need to move it up my tbr. 6y
tessavi I remember visiting the castle/museum in France as a kid 🙂 6y
JazzFeathers Staked. I watched a film years and years ago, covering this. Can't say the film was very good (it was unfocused and thin) but Baker still came of as an uncommon woman. 6y
Cathythoughts Sounds like an impressive lady ♥️👍🏻 6y
Cinfhen I‘ve heard the name before but don‘t know much about her. Her story sounds fascinating 6y

One of those mornings where coffee didn't warm me up enough so I had to make hot chocolate too.
And the goat won't stay out of the henhouse and the rain won't stop. *sigh*
Time to cozy up with this book!
