Good vibes article about a long overdue library book returned. I hope most libraries are eliminating fines!

I was thinking a fabulous library exhibit would be overdue books like this and things found in returned books. I‘d love to see one! (The book in this article was recycled.)

IndoorDame So heartwarming! 1y
jlhammar Wonderful story! I‘d love to see an exhibit like that. 1y

Mimi28 I left a letter from a pen pal on here in which she said something about “ hoarding books” and the librarian gave it back to me. She also gave me back a Squirrel Girl book I thought was a library book but wasn‘t. I love that woman, lol. 1y
Tamra @Mimi28 😆 good one ! 1y

My library doesn't have fines anymore.

*Mental note: this does NOT mean that there are no due dates. Thy should still be kind to my fellow bookworms on the waitlist 😂*

Lovesbooks87 My library did away with fines a couple months ago too! 3y
LauraBeth I love this! 3y
JamieArc Our library system just went fine-free as well! They just freeze your account if you are more than 10 days overdue 😂. But that feels like a good way to do it. 3y

Bookwormjillk My library just did this too! 3y
Amie My library (that I work at and use as a patron) has been fine free for several years now and it's great. We also automatically renew items up to 10 times if there's no waiting list, so people can have plenty of time to return things. 3y
TheRiehlDeal I got an email from the New York Public Library about this as well. I signed up for a digital library card as I live upstate. My library in Liverpool charges late fees. Although I never have to worry about it as I predominantly use Libby/OverDrive. I wish all libraries would do away with fees. 3y
mdemanatee I‘ve loved this adjustment so far with the Chicago Public library system! I haven‘t noticed any circulation number comparisons posted since it was instituted but would be super interested in it. (edited) 3y
