Short stories are not something I normally gravitate toward, but I did enjoy this book of linked stories featuring a 30 something woman in the‘90s. Lucy‘s a photographer and a real “guy‘s girl”. She sails, she white water rafts, etc. but she is unlucky in love.
I have had this book on my shelf since 1999. 😵💫 It‘s moved with me three times in 25 years ! Glad I finally read it. 😅

pickI really enjoyed listening to these stories. Pam Houston has a great voice, both literally and literarily —strong and funny and poignantly honest without ever seeming maudlin or narcissistic. This collection follows the personal and romantic struggles of one character, Lucy, and I loved rooting for her. I discovered this one through the food/reading memoir Voracious that I read for the #ReadHarderChallenge —So glad I did. #audiobook
Started this #audiobook of short stories today and enjoying it so far. Love reading books set in my 'backyard' but get a bit nuts when they get stuff wrong. The first story starts with a visit to The Palace of Fine Arts and comments on all the wedding photos taken there - very true - but then goes on to say it was built for the 1939 World's Fair. Nope. It was for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. Good story otherwise 😊
