A Gift for Dying
A Gift for Dying | M. J. Arlidge
8 posts | 4 read | 10 to read
The gripping new thriller from M. J. Arlidge, Sunday Times bestselling author of the Helen Grace series. Adam Brandt is a forensic psychologist, well used to dealing with the most damaged members of society. But he's never met anyone like Kassie. The teenager claims to have a terrible gift - with one look into your eyes, she can see when and how you will die. Obviously, Adam knows Kassie must be insane. But then a serial killer hits the city. And only Kassie seems to know where he'll strike next. Against all his intuition, Adam starts to believe her. He just doesn't realise how deadly his faith might prove...

Judging by the synopsis, I thought this would be a thriller with a paranormal edge. It wasn't thrilling in the slightest - the police immediately latch onto the nearest suspect (Kassie) even though it's obvious she doesn't have the body strength to move adult victims, Adam is practically useless throughout the book, & I didn't even feel that connected to Kassie. The only plus is that the chapters are very short. (Continued)

OutsmartYourShelf I honestly don't know why I finished reading it. I'm not a big fan of this author's Helen Grace series either & I'm beginning to think their writing style just isn't for me.

Andrew65 @TrishB I still need to get back to her main series. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB @TrishB Somehow I‘ve read this series out of order. Read books 1, 5, 4. 5y
TrishB Ouch! You know I can only read in order! 5y
Andrew65 @TrishB Usually I do, although not sure what happened here. 5y

Forgot the new one was out today 😁😁
@MicheleinPhilly

MicheleinPhilly I thought this was a new Helen and my heart skipped a beat. 😞 6y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly so did I ! I didn‘t even read the blurb 😔 slightly disappointed now.... (edited) 6y
MicheleinPhilly I become very strangely judgmental. “Why are you starting a new series when you have a perfectly good one you can continue????” 6y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly me too!! This may be brilliant but I was expecting some Helen. 6y
nomadreader Ooh! I read the first one at Christmas and need to get back to it. 6y
