Where the Heart Is by Jo Knowles is a Whippoorwill Book Award winner that is a fiction novel and was published in 2019. This is about a 13 year old who is trying to find who they are and someone in their family recently lost their job so they are in a financial crisis. I think this would be a great book for upper elementary school students to read and some may be able to relate to this book. It seems to have a great message.

pickI liked this mg book that has a what I consider a nuanced approach to some tough subjects. In all honestly, I think it is very realistic that life changing struggles do not happen in a vacuum. It also was a beautiful example of friendship, acceptance and discovering who you are and who you like. #lmpbc #lgbtq I am so glad you chose this book @SaturnDoo
