Jane Green writes exactly the kind of book I want to read in the summertime. Not too deep and easy to follow. Finishability (my word). Decades long, intertwining relationships. A bit of drama, but not too heavy. Perfect beach read.

Ruthiella Finishability! Great word! 😀 4y

I‘m fairly confident I know where the plot is going and it‘s not enough to keep me interested.

marleed Of my 242 books read in 2019, I only gave 4 books less than a 3 star, meh, C rating. This was one of them. I‘ve read Jane Green before and considered her a goto author but I don‘t know that I‘ll take the time to read another one. 5y

Hey, Evvie, just a tip, there‘s better ways to keep a friend. ...I found these characters neither interesting nor particularly likable, and their conversations unremarkable. The oh so many familial issues seemed poorly addressed and resolved. ...And it treats 50 like you‘ve one foot in the grave - geesh - tell that to J-Lo!

The Friends We Keep is the warm and wise new novel from Jane Green, New York Times bestselling author of The Sunshine Sisters and The Beach House.

The Friends We Keep is about how despite disappointments we‘ve had or mistakes we‘ve made, it's never too late to find a place to call home.

Slowly but surely getting my reading mojo back by focusing on stereotypically “lighter” fare. But while this novel is sort of soap operatic, there is an entire smorgasbord of misery from alcoholism to infertility to domestic violence to eating disorders and on and on ad infinitum. I‘ve never read this author before but it did seem at times she was laying it on a bit thick. Still interesting & entertaining & kept me out of my own head. 3.75🌟

The bond between friends...the three of them met in college. So much can change over the years but you can really tell how strong the bond is if you can stay friends through life‘s changes.

It's a bit blurry, but this is the perfect day for this as im cleaning up my garage. Don't hate me @aroc! We have been friends since high school and this is one of my favorite pics.
1. The Song of the Lioness Quartet
2. The Who

This is a story of a group of friends who evolve and change over the years. I have to admit this is one of my favorite tropes. I always love seeing how people grow together and apart over the years. Also, I really want to live in Maggie‘s house. It sounds so wonderful although in real life it would probably be too cold for me. This was a sweet book and I enjoyed it.

Andrea4 One of my fave tropes too!! 5y

Mehso-so

I loved the settings, London and New York City. Green couldn't have picked more dynamic and vibrant cities, each unique and historical in their own ways. What I ultimately struggled with was the barrage of problems that afflicted the characters: drug use, verbal and physical abuse, infidelity, alcoholism, as well as fat shaming and homophobia. I really felt like less was more and it became trite at times.
