Europe from a Backpack
Europe from a Backpack: Real Stories from Young Travelers Abroad | Mark Pearson, Martin Westerman
11 posts | 1 to read
If you've ever wanted to backpack in Europe... If you want to relive your adventures... If you love good travel writing... Better than guidebooks, these first-person accounts paint vivid pictures of a traveler's experience in Europe. Like familiar music and favorite scents, they'll awaken a taste for adventure in those who have yet to travel, and bring back memories for those who have. Romance, surprise, discovery and wisdom all bubble through these authors' inviting pieces. At last, a collection of first-person eye-witness adventures that will keep you laughing, wondering, and walking with the well-traveled story tellers who take you inside Europe's must-see places. Billy Anderson stares down death at the running of the bulls in Pamplona. Lisa Cordeiro takes a "will work for food" approach to travel as a waitress at a Paris restaurant. And Mike Riley's desperate search for underwear in a Portuguese market... well, that's another story.

I wasn‘t able to post my #backpackEurope adventures for two weeks, because I was occupied with traveling, exploring cities, meeting new people... you know, usual stuff on the trip 😎, but I did manage to read six books and I‘m ready for Bulgaria.

JenP So bc you waited to post all your books, Ilove have to count them for this week. Each week traveler delays are based on randomizer picks. However, each person is entered into the lottery based on how many books they read per week - so odds go up for being delayed the more books you post in a given week. So the books posted today (even though you read them before today, will all count for next week‘s randomizer delay lottery. Make sense? 6y
Simona @JenP Absolutely, I‘m perfectly aware of the rules 😘 6y
JenP @Simona great, just didn‘t want you surprised if I enter your name a lot next draw. Although you could be lucky. 6y

Travelling from Belgium to France, reading a book set at the Mont St. Michel
@JenP can I get approval for the book. See https://www.mappit.net/bookmap/places/1807/mont-saint-michel-lower-normandy-fr/, but also in descriptions about book.

mabell I chose the same book for France! It sounds fun 😁 6y
Dulcinella @mabell It does 😃 6y
KellyHunsakerReads What did you read for Belgium and was it good? 6y
Dulcinella @Hunsakermountain didn‘t read for Belgium yet, it is my home country. Maybe the tagged book. It is rather recent. If you like historical fiction, I can recommend it. 6y
KellyHunsakerReads Thanks I might read that one then! 6y

Excited to start my #backpackeurope tour tomorrow!!
I am starting in Norway, and I am planning on doing a mini Scandinavian tour, first stop Sweden! Next up Denmark, and after that I'll guess I'll see where the sun takes me☀️Lots of room for spontanious trips to unknown destinations. It would be fun to visit a country I haven't actually been in though 😂Hoping for lovely food and drinks, nice hikes, outdoor concerts and lots of ice cream 🍹🍧🍱

HannaPolkadots Enjoy lots!😀 I'm starting my tour of Norway tomorrow 🌞 6y

VeganCleopatra Do you not have to start in the UK, France or the Netherlands due to living in Europe (I'm guessing)? 6y
hilded @VeganCleopatra I thought so first, but then got a tips from @JenP that I could follow this route when I needed to reach Denmark in July (for another challenge). So I'm guessing you're free to start in your home country when living in Europe :) Happy travels! ✈️ (edited) 6y
hilded UK is great, enjoy! :) @Kristelh 6y
JenP @VeganCleopatra yes, if you live in Europe, you may start in your home country 6y
