1. I'm reading way to many books at the moment; The Anarchy by William Dalrymple, Delivering on the Promise by Rich Delorenzo, 100 Bradbury Short Stories, The Collected Works of Shakespeare and Heimskringla by Snorre ?
2. Both.

The first 36 pages were slow, but the next 450 ones flew by. Very interesting, moving, sad and impressive story, both from Schreiber, but also Sybil and her psychiatrist Dr. Wilbur. I recommend 😀😉

This fall I was nominated to speak at Norway's largest convention for technology and education, and I okayed the nomination because I never thought I would actually be accepted- but guess what? They did! I was told today and have spent the day being happy, proud, scared and realising that now I actually have to do something 🙈 But I started with celebrating the only way I know how; buying books. One for each year I have taught. #bookhaul

A Christmas card | Paul Theroux, John Lawrence
post image

It's been 10 months since I last Litsied, and while I'm never quite sure what it means when people say "life happened ", I think that is what did happen... But then, a few days ago, this Christmas card came from @ju.ca.no , which was so kind and unexpected, and made me realize I needed to get back to the Litsy world. Thank you so much for the card, @ju.ca.no ,that was really lovely of you ???

Has anyone read this? Such great storytelling!??? In some ways it reminds me a bit of Roots by Alex Haley, because it tracks several generations of a family, but the topic is different. I also love that it is set in Uganda, I don't think I've ever "been" there before ?

I think Roth is a very skilled writer, and some of the sentences in this novel are just genius. He also manages to get across frustration, anger, confusion and hurt, all stemming from a profound betrayal from a loved one. However, the ending was a bit too open for my liking🤔. Would love to hear your thoughts if you have read this !😁

Sometime last fall, high on cappuccino and the wisdom of Pippi Longstocking (I've never tried that before, so I'm sure I'm good at it), I offered to embroider 2 (!) Norwegian national costumes from my region (sunnmørsbunad). Now I just have to practice and learn how... all I can say is thank God for Audible 😅🙈 At the right you see today's practice, at the left what the finished product should look like.

Karkar I love Norwegian National Costumes. It is so interesting to see all the different ones! 13mo

The writing is good, the topic interesting, and the best parts are the many in-depth interviews done with young adults and their parents, from different places in The US and different socio-economic backgrounds. Some issues are more American, but others I recognize in my own country as well.

A short listen, about 70 minutes perhaps. I love the stories of unofficial ceasefires Christmas 1914, it gives me hope and tends to make me cry. But it is also impossible for me (and probably for many of them)to understand how a person is supposed to go from shaking hands, playing soccer, sharing smokes and buttons and whatever, and then back to orders to kill each other. The more I read, the less I understand war.
