A funny and moving love story about friends, first loves and self-discovery by the Queen of Teen 2014.When sixteen-year-old Toria Bland arrives at her new school she needs to work out who her friends are, all in a crazy whirl of worry, exam pressure and anxiety over fitting in. Things start looking up when Toria meets the funny and foul-mouthed Polly, who's the coolest girl Toria has ever seen. Polly and the rest of the 'alternative' kids take Toria under their wing. And that's when she meets the irresistible Nico Mancini, lead singer of a local band - and it's instalove at first sight! Toria likes Nico, Nico likes Toria . . . but then there's Polly. Love and friendship have a funny way of going round in circles.

Mehso-so

I needed a pause from the International Booker (a storyline, human characters, that sort of thing). This was a quick read, but by it‘s own admission it was A LOT: Friendships, sexuality, eating disorders, self-harm and a disapproving seal, all in a VERY recognisable faded seaside small town. I didn‘t love the writing, but liked the main characters & loved the setting. Probably just more YA than I can handle really. #BBRC #TeenAngst #ByATransAuthor

rockpools And it‘s after midnight, so I‘m declaring this as the first book ticked off for #AwesomeApril readathon. @Andrew65 4y

rockpools @Cathythoughts Thank you! I need to up the number of tacky seaside town photos on my phone, though. This book really called for a photo of the dinosaur crazy golf course!! 4y
