Fresh. Fascinating. Unforgettable. The Butterfl y and the Violin is a masterpiece of a debut. Laura Frantz, author of Loves Reckoning ". . . impossible to put down." RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 Stars, TOP PICK! A Mysterious painting breathes hope and beauty into the darkest corners of Auschwitzand the loneliest hearts of Manhattan. Manhattan art dealer Sera James watched her world crumble at the altar two years ago, and her heart is still fragile. Her desire for distraction reignites a passion for a mysterious portrait she first saw as a young girla painting of a young violinist with piercing blue eyes. In her search for the painting, Sera crosses paths with William Hanoverthe grandson of a wealthy California real estate mogulwho may be the key to uncovering the hidden masterpiece. Together Sera and William slowly unravel the story behind the paintings subject: Austrian violinist Adele Von Bron. A darling of the Austrian aristocracy of 1942, talented violinist, and daughter to a high-ranking member of the Third Reich, Adele risks everything when she begins smuggling Jews out of Vienna. In a heartbeat, her life of prosperity and privilege dissolves into a world of starvation and barbed wire. As Sera untangles the secrets behind the painting, she finds beauty in the most unlikely of places: the grim camps of Auschwitz and the inner recesses of her own troubled heart. "In her historical series debut, Cambron expertly weaves together multiple plotlines, time lines, and perspectives to produce a poignant tale of the power of love and faith in difficult circumstances. Those interested in stories of survival and the Holocaust, such as Eli Wiesels Night, will want to read." Library Journal, starred review ". . . debut novelist Cambron vividly recounts interwoven sagas of heartache and recovery through courage, love, art, and faith." Change of plans, folks! I'm hoping to finish my current read by Kristy Cambron (wonderful so far) and move on to this big guy instead of starting Crown of Midnight... This book is almost 800 pages long and I have book 2 waiting for me at the library already... I feel like I'm going to have a hard time finishing book 2 before it's due back..

2 library books dropped for me yesterday, one physical copy and one digital. I need to finish this wonderful book so I can move on to book 1 in a series since book 2 is waiting for me at the library. Oops! Didn't think that one through... 😆 It is times like these where I am made very aware of how slow I read. Ha!

Whenever I come across an objectionable wife in a book it always brings me pause. I never want to become one so it always resonates with me to be friendly, loving, and kind. At one point I was pretty negative and contradictory, and it showed in my marriage. I'm so thankful that I realized that no one wants to be around a grouch, and that I am very capable of being one. 😂

I wanted this book because of the cover. Plain and simple. It didn't even matter what it was about. I thought it was beautiful and I couldn't wait to buy it. I would get on bookoutlet.com just to look at it until I had the ability to buy it... I've had it for about 4 months now, and have yet to read it. It wasn't until today that I actually read the entire synopsis on the back. Very soon, little book. Very soon.
