I took some old books to the used book store today. I came back with these four:
-Memoir of the medium Allison DuBois (did not know she is a real person until today, I LOVE the tv series)
-Memoir of a North Korean woman
-Memoir of an ex child soldier
-Nordi noir book from Kristina Ohlsson
I'm not expecting these to be easy to read but I feel lucky that I found them! I just can't wait to get into these!📚
pickI really enjoyed this book. Even though I‘ve read other books of the same ilk, I had not yet read one written by a woman.
I was surprised by the people who were kind to Eusun + fam, but even more surprising were the people who didn‘t offer aid.
If you have an interest in North Korea or human trafficking, this is an interesting memoir. 4âï¸
The #audiobook narration is fine, but not spectacular.
What should I read next? I‘m leaning towards A Thousand Miles to Freedom, but I could be persuaded otherwise. 🤔
so-soThis was really good but it was easy to put down and forget about. I‘ve been slowly reading it since November and it‘s only 228 pages.
However, It‘s a great look into the struggles of the people in North Korea and how hard and dangerous to escape the country.
It‘s spring break! My goals are to finish the multitude of books I‘m reading, and potty train Charlotte. I would love to get some writing time in but I doubt the goobers will let me.
Oh my gosh, I love kimchi so much! My co-teacher is Korean and her mom makes real kimchi. She even buries the jars in the ground for like 3 months. It‘s so good and it really is addicting. 😋

so-soAlthough this memoir is an interesting story- and the author is undoubtably very resilient and brave this failed to fire for me. A bit too brief and superficial- it paled in comparison to similar memoirs I have read this year.
pickCompelling memoir about a young North Korean woman's long and trying journey to freedom. This woman's story was not lost in translation, like many do. It did have very few things that were a bit repetitive, but nothing too bad. Definitely a must read. The audiobook was great, very nicely narrated.
Starting a compelling nonfiction piece that describes this woman's journey to freedom and survival from North Korea. Another audiobook that I got as a Daily Deal on Audible.
