A lot of reviews that I see of this series tend to be very critical of it, but I think these are fun fantasy romps, and I'm enjoying revisiting them! On to book three 😊

wordslinger42 @TheAromaofBooks Let me know what you think! I think a lot of people go in expecting them to be like Tolkien, but if you just treat them as fun, swords & sorcery adventures, they're really enjoyable (to me, anyway ☺) 13mo
TheAromaofBooks Oh an BY THE WAY remember MONTHS ago when I said I would send you that Sorcery of Thorns pin??? I finally did it!! 😂 You're pretty close, so it should be there in a day or two!! 13mo
wordslinger42 @TheAromaofBooks 😂😂😂 Thank you! I just read the book recently and really enjoyed it, so now I'm even more excited about the pin! 🥳 13mo

“Why must there be killing? I can‘t stand it!” Tears streaked his face.

“Don‘t be ashamed… Be thankful you can feel pity and horror at the death of an enemy. The day we cease to care, even for our enemies, is the day we have lost this battle.”

I didn't realize how close I was to being finished with this one. (The downside to reading a trilogy all included in 1 book.) These are just so darn good! Especially if you like dungeons and dragons type adventures. Or fantasy. It is interesting how many different covers a book can have. This fantasy art of the 80's is another reason why I love these books. Though I can't say this is exactly how I picture the characters.

Well this is awkward. I thought I had started this already. The page I previously posted said book 2 and I believed it. I guess it was a lie. The new ending makes more sense though.

Starting on book 2 in the trilogy. Book 1 was most excellent. Far better than I was expecting based on the cover. And you can definitely feel the connection to d&d.

Bkwrm7 I read these years ago - in high school I think? And remember loving them. Glad to see someone enjoying them now! Perhaps a revisit is in order for me sometime this year.... 3y

There is always a healthy dose of tension and mystery surrounding the companions and their journey. Diving into the world of Dragonlance is ensuring that you will be entertained for many many books. Magic, dragons, romance, adventure, all this and more is contained within Dragons of Winter Night. #fantasy

Zoes_Human I remember loving these decades ago, and I still have them. I've been afraid to reread them though. I was scared that it might belie my fond memories of 30 years past. 4y
BehindthePages @Zoes_Human I first read them 15 years ago. I was leery, but I found myself grinning ear to ear when my favorite characters made their appearances. I love them just as much as I did then! 4y
Zoes_Human @BehindthePages That's really reassuring. My bad Piers Anthony experience really shook me on old rereads. Some part of me deeply wishes I'd kept my memories of Xanth instead of trying to relive them. 4y

One of my fav Dragonlance art pieces. King Lorac tries to save his people through the use of a Dragon Orb - only it ends up taking him over and unleashes terror upon the very land he was trying to protect and also summons a Dragon (Cyan Bloodbane) to watch over him as his land is warped and twisted for years into a place of nightmares. 😲😰

Dragonlance is coooool ass! 😁😉😍

Knightingale I was looking through “Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home” tonight and thinking about making Otik‘s spiced potatoes from the official recipe. I loved Dragonlance when I was young. 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @Knightingale Haha. Awesome. I have that book too and have definitely made Otiks potatoes from it. ❤️👍 6y

Does it count as #seltsabotageseptember if you get a book for someone else? 😋 My husband got this for me at SLC Comic Con. However, today I got it for him on audio, by request. He used to ❤️ to read for fun, but hasn't much since grad school. I got him to try audio books, and this is his third since spring. Progress! Also, I'm excited for #biblioweekend & #TBYSReadathon https://jmillwanders.com/2016/08/24/take-back-your-shelves-readathon-sign-up/
