I stop by my local thrift store on Saturday errand runs looking for blogging photo props & that perfect teacup/saucer set-but I can't not look at the books. What $3 netted today-short stories about San Juan, a woman doing a research study at the Mustang Ranch, vignettes about life in Chicago's Latino section & 5/$1 Hawaii print bookmarks because they are sorta cute & as I always misplace them, I won't mind losing 20 cents! 😆#thriftstore #bookhaul

My nook is in the other room so my current view will suffice. This was a very interesting inside look at legalized prostitution in Nevada. The author is curious but anti-prostitution right off the bat. Her views become more complex and nuanced as she explores the world of brothels and the book explores her conflicted view on it. She doesn't shy away from the negative or difficult but her end result is humanizing everyone involved. Quick read too.

I am doing some serious introverting tonight. I had a great visit with an out-of-town friend, but I haven't any quiet time since Tuesday. I've been snuggling under a warm blanket with this interesting book and enjoying my solitude. Well, Radar is hovering and trying to get my attention but I can still read. 😋

This was assigned to me for a class in college...a book about hookers..who said history was boring? The author moved into a brothel in Nevada to explore the lives of the hookers residing there and the result was informative, insightful, and sometimes hilarious. I, ahem, learned a lot!
