On the heels of the wildly popular "The Darkest Powers" series comes the first in another supernatural YA trilogy from New York Times bestelling author Kelley Armstrong.Maya lives in a small medical-research town on Vancouver Island. How small? You can't find it on the map. It has less than two-hundred people, and her school has only sixty-eight students for every grade from kindergarten to twelve. Now, strange things are happening in this claustrophobic town, and Maya's determined to get to the bottom of them. First, the captain of the swim team drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. A year later, mountain lions start appearing around Maya's home, and they won't go away. Her best friend, Daniel, starts getting negative vibes from certain people and things. It doesn't help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret and he's interested in one special part of Maya's anatomy: Her paw-print birthmark. From the Hardcover edition.

I love Kelley Armstrong but I was a little disappointed with this one. I am confused as to what is happening. It left off with a huge cliff hanger so now i will have to read the next one In the series. It is considered as a dark romance. #NSR221 @Nessavamusic

YA urban fantasy. Book 1 in a series. I enjoyed the story and the ending left me with enough questions to want to continue on to Book 2 of the series to find out what happens next. A nice distraction at the end of the day.

@imabusybee my guy Josh officially loves you. He already laid claim to these. All I did was send him a picture. Maybe he won't find them in my office at work 😜

Mommamanzi I‘m so beyond jealous right now!!! Caaaaandy! 🍬🍭🍫 7y
LibrarianRyan @Mommamanzi I know right. I had to hide them from josh so he doesn't go into a diabetic coma. Harribo are his fav. 7y
imabusybee These looked like fun, so I had to get them 7y

Oh my goodness @imabusybee I LOVE it all. I'm soooo sorry I bought myself the books you originally picked out. This means you may now own 2 copies. Sorry. But you have great selections. I had read the original Armstrong YA series, and always wanted to read the sequel series, but never got around to it. So yeah!! Plus, the kids I work with have been telling me for years to read wings. And Cronin has been on my list for a while. #dystopianblues

Avanders Ooh I loved The Passage! 7y

LibrarianRyan @Betty thanks. Was going to do that in my next post. I took some close up pictures. 7y
Betty @LibrarianRyan sorry I jumped the gun 7y
Avanders @Betty @LibrarianRyan lol I think we just get really excited on opening day. I did the same thing w @TheKidUpstairs ' post, responding before she had a chance to 😁😁 7y
LibrarianRyan @Betty not at all. I wasn't smart and opened my box before getting ready for work. Had to get dressed and drive over. Didn't want to, but if I get fired I can't afford more books. 😋 7y
LibrarianRyan @Avanders I love looking through everyone's. So I get it. 7y
Avanders @LibrarianRyan it's so fun!! 👏🏽👏🏽💙🖤 7y
Betty @LibrarianRyan wouldn't want you to get fired--you'd have to drop Librarian from your name 7y
LibrarianRyan @Betty that's true. And it would be a waste of new business cards. 7y
imabusybee So glad you like it. Being my 1st swap..sorry alot of it isn't dystopian related 7y
LibrarianRyan @imabusybee considering I already own most the popular dystopian books, it's understandable. Domestic matter. I love it. Plus these have been on my TBR for a while. Now I have more incentive to get them read. 7y

So I finished the Gathering. I have mixed emotions? I'm salty, I'm excited, I'm confused...anyone else?
I've got to go back to my library to get the second book, I am definitely going to continue.

As stated, I've read the trilogy but there's no tag for The Atoning.... Which is a super read!! I loved being reacquainted with this world and characters, a fabulous reminder of how much I loved the trilogy ☺

I've read this series and for some reason Atoning isn't on the list of books, which is what I've picked next.... So onward with the novella....

This is a review for both The Gathering and The Calling, because I read them back to back. I enjoyed these. I loved the forest setting, liked Maya as a strong female lead and like the supernatural powers that developed. These were easy, enjoyable reads.
