#2022Book117
The original Wizard of Oz was back for this book, and even more useless than he was in the first book. These books seem to be at their best when Baum reunites Dorothy with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, and this book doesn‘t do that until almost the end.

#SeriesRead2022 @TheSpineView

Not my favorite so far, but still a pick because the creativity and fun makes for such a great escape from more serious reads.

This book brings Dorothy and the Wizard back together after an earthquake. They find themselves encountering strange people, invisible bears, and even dragons as they search for a way back home. Many of the characters we love are back and Baum introduces several new ones.

People often point out that many of the Oz books are just travelogues, with little or no plot. Well, yes, but they're such delightful travelogues with little or no plot that you'll get no complaints from me!

Not my favorite of the Oz books, but still an imaginative adventure. A little more disjointed than the previous works. I still enjoyed Baum's creative characters & interactions, I just wasn't able to connect to this one well & somewhat pushed myself to make it to the end. It won't stop me from completing the series, but felt more like an extraneous work meant to simply generate money & maybe appease fervent fans than a work of artistic effort.

Unfortunately, this wasn't my favorite in the series. I would say that it felt like random things were happening with no overall purpose but there are other parts in the series that feel that way so I'm not sure why this one wasn't clicking. I did really like the first place they ended up in because it was made of glass and sounded so beautiful and interesting. I also liked seeing Dorothy meet her old friends from previous books again.
