Cage of Souls
Cage of Souls | ADRIAN. TCHAIKOVSKY
The sun is bloated, diseased, dying perhaps. Beneath its baneful light, Shadrapar, last of all cities, harbours fewer than 100,000 human souls. Built on the ruins of countless civilisations, Shadrapar is a museum, a midden, an asylum, a prison on a world that is ever more alien to humanity. Bearing witness to the desperate struggle for existence between life old and new is Stefan Advani: rebel, outlaw, prisoner, survivor. This is his testament, an account of the journey that took him into the blazing desolation of the western deserts; that transported him east down the river and imprisoned him in the verdant hell of the jungle's darkest heart; that led him deep into the labyrinths and caverns of the underworld. He will meet with monsters, madman, mutants. The question is, which one of them will inherit this Earth?

Cage of Souls is a combination between Jurassic Park and Anaconda. The world is ending, the Sun is slowly dying. Sharaphar is the last city on Earth, 100.000 souls living day by day on borrowed time. Stefan is our MC, former academic turned criminal sentenced for life in the Island, a massive boat in the middle of swamp full of mutant animals and talking fish, far intelligent than humans.
Cage of Souls is Stefan's accounts on how to save the world

Weisubei The book is slow and not for everyone, but once you really get the feel, you find yourself wondering about the end of everything. Surprisingly, Stefan found a kind of family during all of his hardships. My favorite character is Stefan (very surprising since I rarely root for the MC) 5mo

I can't believe it's already #BookSpin August list time! New to the list this month is the tagged and Hyperion. I'm still slowly trying to catch up with previous months' picks but I'm getting there slowly but surely. Thanks as always to @TheAromaofBooks for hosting!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a fabulous #BookSpin Day! I almost forgot about my favorite book day of the month because I was out celebrating my birthday (It was last Tuesday). This month's picks are a chunky boi and the first four books of the Earthsea Cycle so my curse is still in full swing. I honestly thought I didn't have very many chunky bois left on my list but SURPRISE RNGesus found them lolol. Good. Times.

humouress Happy birthday fellow Libran! 2y

I can‘t believe it‘s time for #BookSpin lists already. This month the list newcomers are the tagged and Station Eleven. I‘m still working on the chunky boi that got pulled previously and will hope to catch up with my backlog. Thanks as always to @TheAromaofBooks for hosting.

🎧 Difficult. Unique ideas!

Far off future. Sun‘s burning out. 100K humans left on Earth.

The story has already happened. This is Stefan‘s account.

The book‘s flavor? It‘s like if Michael Crichton & Jeremy Robinson rewrote Heart of Darkness crossed with The Terror by Dan Simmons in a quest-like sci-fantasy, maybe? ALL sorts of Abominations roam the earth. People are carrying Flintlocks & many can‘t read. Evolution. Extinction.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Reggie You hit so many hit boxes for me in this review. Stacked. 3y
Twainy @reggie still thinking about it. It‘s dense,😁 🤗 3y

Mehso-so

Found the MC's backstory boring and would have preferred large segments removed.

Weekly death toll and carelessness with human life seemed too high, especially given the size of the city. Not believable at all. Just added for flavor, I guess.

I was excited to see this morning that Charlie Jane Anders, Kameron Hurley, and Adrian Tchaikovsky, 3 authors that I LOVE, are all up for the Arthur C. Clarke award this year!

I‘m rooting for Charlie Jane, but Tchaikovsky‘s nominated entry (he has already won once for the amazing Children of Time) showed up in my #bookmail just this week and I want to show off that gorgeous cover. #coverlove

truthinfiction The cover is gorgeous. A real treat for eyes! 4y
