Underwater: A Novel | Marisa Reichardt

Morgan didn't mean to do anything wrong that day. Actually, she meant to do something right. But her kind act inadvertently played a role in a deadly tragedy. In order to move on, Morgan must learn to forgive-first someone who did something that might be unforgivable, and then, herself. But Morgan can't move on. She can't even move beyond the front door of the apartment she shares with her mother and little brother. Morgan feels like she's underwater, unable to surface. Unable to see her friends. Unable to go to school. When it seems Morgan can't hold her breath any longer, a new boy moves in next door. Evan reminds her of the salty ocean air and the rush she used to get from swimming. He might be just what she needs to help her reconnect with the world outside. Underwater is a powerful, hopeful debut novel about redemption, recovery, and finding the strength it takes to face your past and move on.

Mehso-so

3.5/5. Good book. Predictable but entertaining. A little repetitive.

If you like YA fiction, romance and healing books then this is for you. Its about a girl named Morgan who was at school during a shooting but she feels she is partly to blame for it. Morgan now is too afraid to go into the outside world so she stays in her apartment everyday. She is very comfortable with the way things are, that is until her new neighbour Evan moves in. He reminds her of everything that she misses from the outside world.

Cfischbuch Love your review. I now need to read this one. 5y

Things have been so rough lately.
It's put me in a reading and life slump.
Depression has been kicking my butt to a point I'm considering outpatient treatment again. Bleh.
And with how stressed I've been at work, I asked to be demoted. I no longer want to be in charge. Being an assistant just doesn't work for me. It was hard to bring up, but I had to do it. I'm hoping things will be okay from this point on.

GrilledCheeseSamurai Awww. I'm sorry life sux right now. I hope things start getting better. *hugs* 6y

Pickpick

Have given this a pick , as it‘s a quick, easy read that deals sensitively with a difficult issue.
It is Y/A though and becomes a bit over simplified and has a very neat and tidy ending.

#tbt Here are some books I read this time last year! There was a nine day gap where I didn't finish anything, and weirdly there was also a nine day gap this year. (It was between the 6th and 15th.)

I was very excited to read this book - but to be honest I expected more from it. the characters could've been more detailed, the story unfolded way too fast, every obstacle was overcome and the protagonist happy. I mean it is YA so it makes sense that it's simple-ish but.. I still enjoyed it though!
